recumbant biking and calorie burn

I am wondering if anyone can give me an idea as to how many calories are burned on a recumbent bike. The bike itself says 178 cals for 7.3miles in 37 minutes. MFP says 383. This is a huge gap. I opted to go with the lower value but was upset to see on my fitbit, that this didn't qualify as very active minutes. I was definitely sweating for much of the time I was on the bike and felt that I was more active than when I go for my evening power walks (which do count on my very active minutes)., Does anyone have any advice? It seems like the MFP is probably too high but by the same token I don't understand how it could be low enough not to qualify as very active minutes. Feeling discouraged :(

If you're wearing it on your wrist that's probably why it didn't pick it up as "active" minutes. I've read that some people will take it out of the wristband and put it inside their sock when cycling. Some argue that this overinflates, some say not...Fitbit the company says not to do this. Another member said they clip it to the hem of their shorts when they're on the recumbant but I think they were talking about the older model as I have no idea how you would attach the new one to your shorts. It's really up to you. But yeah, if it was on your wrist it's not picking up much if any movement on a recumbant bike because your hands are pretty still.
