It really depends on if you want to follow the lowfat or the lowcarb train of thought.
In lowfat it's not a huge deal because the sugar is naturally occuring. In low carb you want to keep it low so it doesn't spike your blood sugar.
I think as long as most of your sugar is from fruit and veggies you are fine. Don't subtract them from your total but don't get hung up on them either.

Actually, low fat is usually higher in sugar when it comes to low fat products!! Its the only way to get taste! And sometimes some products then put in high salt to counteract the high sugar taste!
1 - 2 pieces of fruit is recommended, no more. You can check out my diary if you want cos I have banned all sugar from my diet (in my 2nd week) and it is amazing how things like a tart tasting ranch dressing now tastes like really bad mayo!! I am no way perfect (but it is only week 2), so there are days that I have gone over BUT I am still learning.

It is all about sugar and what it does to your body....also check your packet foods on the label....does it have sugar, fructose, sucrose, etc listed? Alot of packaged foods do because they will sell more and to us it tasted damn good and we are addicted to it!!
If you feel like a bit of a read, check out this post....http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/146912-addicted-to-sugar-read-on-sorry-long-post

Also, there are different sugar percentages for different fruit...berries are low... (yummy). I was just looking back in my diary and I still seem to juggle BUT I am getting there.
Good luck!0 -
If most of your sugar intake is from fruits and veggies, then you should be fine. Its the artificial sweetners and sugar added is what is bad. Natural sugars are burned easier.0
