Changing my weigh-in days. Any Monday Weighers?

So I have decided to change my weekly weigh in days from Friday morning to Monday morning because I have a hard time staying on track on the weekends which causes me to have a problem come weigh in time. I feel that if I change it to Monday mornings, it will help me think twice about going crazy on Friday's as well as it will surely make me think twice before allowing it to carry over into Saturday and Sunday. Has anyone else done this and it actually helped their journey?

No way. Monday's are always my highest weight because I tend to slack off on the weekends. that would depress me too much and make me feel like im not making any progress. Thursdays and Fridays are always my lowest days.0

Changing my weigh-in days absolutely helped. When I changed mine to Monday morning, I stayed more responsible and consistent throughout the weekend. I'd say it's actually been a huge factor in maintaining my weight0

I've actually gone to the reverse...I weigh on Friday morning now instead of Monday because I am careful through the week and it gives me a truer view of my weight versus after the weekend when it will probably be water weight from sodium and drinking.0

weighing in on Mondays could hurt you in the long run, as a majority of people are lazier on the weekend (I included)
Why not change to Saturday? Or Sunday? that way you can be good on Friday Night and saturday and bad on sunday and start a week over0 -

OMG this helped me tremendously
im going on 6 weeks and the first couple weeks sucked because I would do so well on the weekdays and then come Friday I felt like I had any excuse to eat whatever I wanted... then I started noticing a trend how I would practically gain all the weight id lost during the week... it helps to make me think twice about eating out and grabbing that second ice cream bar... or chocolate bar hehehehe... I hated seeing no change on the scale on Monday morning
plus for me I can only work out Thursday-sunday because that's what my schedule allows so that may have something to do with it too0 -
also if you notice those encouraging you NOT change is because they're in the same boat and openly admit that they slack off.. that wont get you far in this weight loss journey and you'll end up giving up due to no progress.0

I record my weight on Mondays. I don't really have a reason though. I just started doing it then.0

My whole reason for changing it to Monday's are so that I do not just say F it, it's the weekend. No way. I am so glad this worked for you. I have a really hard time staying on track and Friday's I tend to go crazy and sometimes it carries into Sat & Sun which I know is hindering my progress. I has almost this whole year.So I have decided to change my weekly weigh in days from Friday morning to Monday morning because I have a hard time staying on track on the weekends which causes me to have a problem come weigh in time. For the past 20 months I have weighed in every single Monday morning. I purposely chose that day of the week to hold me accountable over the weekend and it works for me!0

The part about wanting to give up is starting to happen so I was like nope let me try the Monday weigh in instead of Friday as suggested by a few of my current mfp friends.also if you notice those encouraging you NOT change is because they're in the same boat and openly admit that they slack off.. that wont get you far in this weight loss journey and you'll end up giving up due to no progress.0

My plan exactly. Me cheating on Friday evenings, even though I have all the way til the next Friday to weigh again..I still sometimes go into Sat and Sun cheating causing me to mess up a whole weeks work. Time out for that. For the past 20 months I have weighed in every single Monday morning. I purposely chose that day of the week to hold me accountable over the weekend and it works for me!0

My whole purpose for changing it to Monday's is because I don't want to be lazier and just eat on the weekends. To help my journey I want to also eat healthier on the weekends included and if I know I have to weigh Monday morning, that will keep me on track more over the weekend is what I am thinking.weighing in on Mondays could hurt you in the long run, as a majority of people are lazier on the weekend (I included)

that's interesting...and not true...see ticker below.
Yup I slack off on the weekend but don't go over my weekly goal...never did...
It does get you far otherwise I wouldn't have lost 50+lbs and I didn't give up.
Let's be frank...If you have a daily goal that translates to a weekly goal and if you have a couple hundred from the week left on the weekend why not use them...heck even if you go over a bit it's not gonna "kill" your progress...but what can is see water weight gain and thinking it's fat...which is what weekends can do...0 -
I currently weigh on Friday morning before all the damage begins but again..That is not helping my journey or my progress because that Friday night cheat meal sometimes carries over into the rest of the weekend and I am tired of not seeing results because of it.I've actually gone to the reverse...I weigh on Friday morning now instead of Monday because I am careful through the week and it gives me a truer view of my weight versus after the weekend when it will probably be water weight from sodium and drinking.0

Happy to hear it has helped your journey Hoping it does the same for me.Changing my weigh-in days absolutely helped. When I changed mine to Monday morning, I stayed more responsible and consistent throughout the weekend. I'd say it's actually been a huge factor in maintaining my weight0

I weigh on Mondays.
Weekends are the best for me fitness wise, because all of my hobbies are active.
Weekdays I'm stuck in my cubicle at work and don't get that much time to move around.0 -
Weekends are so hard for me. I am lazy during the weekend and on top of that being the time I eat more-Nope, just not working out. lolI weigh on Mondays.

Then it's time to change something other than your weigh in day. I saw results regardless of when I weighed in. I used the app to track a weekly goal and if I was under (never by much maybe 200 at most) one day and 50 the next etc I would use those on the weekends and stay within weekly goal. Being accountable has nothing to do with when you weigh in it has to do with how bad you want it.
I get how hard it is to stay on track on the weekends trust me...so instead of logging day by day I started logging 2 days, then 3 now I do 5 days in advance and mid week I started logging my weekend based on what is going on.
I would log in my "treat" on the weekend which could have been burger king or a really nice resturant close to home and that gave me an idea of where I stood for the rest of the weekend...then I logged accordingly, staying in weekly goal.
If you are erasing your entire weekly deficit on the weekend...then I hope the Monday weigh in helps...can't see it because you know on the weekend what you are doing by eating over goal...but I hope it does...0 -

I have been in maitenance for 3 weeks...but I have been here for over 1 year...
It's only as easy as you make it. If you have a goal and really want it...you don't go over. Period.
This may sound harsh but it's true...if you want anything bad enough you do it. You take control of whatever it is...and in the case of weight loss yourself and your eating habits and you change them.
I made it through Jazz festivals, rock concerts, Thanksgiving, Christmas, my birthday, a 10 day trip to an all inclusive (which I didn't track) and still managed to on average stay on goal of TDEE-15% for 11 months...even choosing to eat at maitenance over Christmas and not tracking on my holiday. Having treats every night, eating out at Fast food resturants 1-3x a week, eating at amazing resturants where cheese cake was dessert and still managed to be in a deficit...
Over doing it comes from not saying no to yourself...maybe it is because you are so restrictive through the week...maybe it's because you don't want it bad enough...but sorry changing anything but your eating habits won't make this issue go away. If you can't be accountable to yourself for less than 72 hours find out why...and change that.0 -
That is great news that you have been at maintenance for 3 weeks (claps hands and pats you on the back). You would have never been on Mfp if it was as easy as you are making it sound. I won't go back and forth with you on my post, but thanks for your suggestions. Have a great dayalso if you notice those encouraging you NOT change is because they're in the same boat and openly admit that they slack off.. that wont get you far in this weight loss journey and you'll end up giving up due to no progress.

I weigh on Mondays and also don't really have a reason for doing it then--it just was when it was when I decided to start doing weekly weigh-ins. That said, I've thought about changing it and decided I like it, because it adds a bit of incentive to make sure I take advantage of the greater time for workouts on most weekends and also means I usually eat really well on Sundays. I still go out to dinner most Saturday nights and plenty of Fridays, but I try to make sure I balance it out with exercise.0
