A dance exercise for someone who can't dance

Hello all!

I can't dance in public. Period. Even trying to learn ballroom style dances from my older brother (who is a former ballroom instructor) was an embarrassing challenge. However, I see all these dance exercise videos and they look really fun. So I thought I'd see what y'all have to say about them.

Back a few years ago (when my PS2 actually worked) I got really good at Dance Dance Revolution. But, alas, I won't be getting a new game console until Christmas, if funds allow. I loved it because there were clear instructions for the dance moves (can you even call that dancing?). Do you know of any videos that have clear instructions I can follow? Zumba looks fun but it looks like you have to know the moves beforehand.

Thanks for the input!

I just bought the Hip Hop Abs dance party dvd (I think it's the dance party). I am not a dancer at all, but the dvd is pretty easy to follow and is fun.

Trust me when I say that Zumba in classes isn't the prettiest to see since many have no rhythm or don't dance as sexy as they believe they are. Go for it.

I like Dancing With the Stars Cardio Dance the one from 2007 with Kym, Maks and Ashley on the cover. I've had some of the later ones but this is the only one I come back to.

Oh believe me I will be doing these exercises in the privacy of my bedroom to save some poor saps the agony of watching me LOL. The only times I dance in public is when my good buddies Malibu and Smirnoff stop by :)

Also, the only way I'll be able to tell how many calories I burned is by buying a heart rate monitor?

Cardio for Beginners - Petra Kolber. 1/2 is athletic cardio / 1/2 is dancey cardio. Great intro to learning choreography. I have 2 left feet, but can do this....... http://www.collagevideo.com/products/petra-kolbers-cardio-for-beginners

This website critiques workouts for level (not all DVDs...yet)....look for basic choreography: http://www.collagevideo.com/search?q=dance

Another website with video clips & reviews. But choreography level is not listed.

I realize it sounds silly, but I like to pull up dance exercises on youtube to try. They are free and you might find someone you like to practice to.
