thyroid?

Hey Friends!

So I'm losing VERY slowly these days. At BEST I'm lucky to lose 1 pound per week. I'm doing everything right except that I haven't given up on my wine on the weekends drinker :drinker:

My mom tells me that it must be a thyroid problem. I say it's the fact that I'm a 46 year old woman. I haven't gone to the doctor for testing or anything but would love to know what opinions you guys might have on this subject.

Thanks in advance!
Laura

The only way to diagnose a thyroid problem is through blood tests. I have Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroid disease), and I lost way more slowly than most MFPers. But I did it just like everybody else—by logging everything I eat & drink accurately & honestly.

With only 10 lbs. to go (congratulations!), a healthy loss is .5 lb. per week. So you're actually doing better than average.

I also have Hashimoto's. Before being diagnosed I had other symptoms besides my weight. The most noticeable to me were the brain fog and extreme tiredness.

I am also losing around one pound a week.

If in doubt, go to the doctor. Not all thyroid problems are Hashimoto's!

I too have Hoshimoto's. Get tested if you feel it could be that. One simple blood test will tell ya.

Could be thyroid...could be...other hormones.
    +1 for the blood test.
  • I have a thyroid disorder and there is no "natural" way to combat this. You need to go to a doctor, get tested and get medication if that is the problem because it will impact more than just your weight. . Even on medication it is harder to lose weight than it is for a normal person. That does not make it impossible, it means that you have to work harder and smarter than the average person to get the same results. .
