Do I REALLY need to eat Breakfast???

I'm one of those folks that just don't have an interest in breakfast. A morning coffee and maybe a piece of fruit at some point before lunch if I get hungry. I would prefer to save my calories to split between lunch and dinner. Is that wrong thinking? Lately I've been working at having a smoothy for breakfast but then I skip the coffee, too much liquid that early. I'd really prefer the coffee. So, what's your take. I really will listen to any good advice given by people who have been on this journey and are successfully fighting their way back to a healthy body. Thanks

pretty much its eat when you feel hungry. The main reason breakfast is recommended is that it breaks the fast from when you were sleeping and helps to lower your blood sugar and kickstart your metabolism. You are not wanting breakfast because you are indeed filling up on coffee and fruit. (I love coffee too and sometime skip breakfast so i can have more coffee) ITs not a big deal if you eat lightly in the morning as long as you balance it out in the day. I get so hungry by ten if I skip breakfast so having snacks preplanned with help with that. I think it is a great idea if you switch it up and drink a smoothie here and there to replace the coffee. Remember its baby steps and small changes. Don't force a whole new way of waking up if its just not your thing. This is a live and learn/trial and error process. The most important thing is to get your calories in for each day without going over. Good luck

It really depends on how you feel. But whatever it is, you HAVE to at leadt eat something after working out. For me, I think it is better to eat breakfast because it will boost your metabolism in the morning. And plus, i read in several articles, breakfast is the most important meal.

No, you do not have to eat breakfast. It doesn't kickstart your metabolism, it doesn't make you lose more weight, it doesn't do anything that blogs or magazines claim it does. It's just a meal. Some people like a big breakfast; others eat a small one. Some people like to eat as soon as they wake up, others aren't hungry until later. Some people find that breakfast keeps them from overeating; others find that the earlier in the day they start eating, the more likely they are to overeat, so they skip breakfast.

    Do what works for you.

    Definitely this!

I wake up normally around 3 - 3:30 am every day, my first meal is usually around 1 -2 in the afternoon. My metabolism is just fine :)

It's up to you of course but I've found eating a good breakfast is the best way for me to lose weight. I try to make it my biggest meal of the day and include a good amount of protein and fat. It curbs my appetite for the rest of the day, keeps my metabolism up, and gives me energy for my early afternoon workout.

"Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper!"

It's a tough habit to get into but try it for week or two and you'll probably like the results.

Do we have to answer this question every day?

Breakfast is a trigger food for me and makes me eat for the rest of the day.

Do we have to answer this question every day?

Breakfast is a trigger food for me and makes me eat for the rest of the day.

Without it I get dizzy, nauseous, light headed and hangry. Does that mean everyone should eat breakfast?

...the answer is no. Do what works best for you.

I never eat breakfast. It works for me, we eat bigger evening meals and this allows me more calories for those.

Oh, my! This is so distracting.

Oh, yes. OP's question. No, OP, you don't need to eat any particular meal. Breakfast isn't necessary. Meal timing doesn't matter, and if you're not hungry until lunch, that's just fine. If someone only eats breakfast and dinner, that's fine, too.

I love breakfast, and I don't know how people can skip it. I'd be so cranky and hungry by lunch, I'd probably eat everything in sight. However, if you're not hungry in the mornings, then you don't have to eat breakfast. If you're going hungry just so you can eat more later, it's your prerogative, but I think that's making it harder than it should be. My goal is to never be hungry because hunger sucks, so I eat quite often to prevent it. Whatever works for you.

I'm the same way, food early in the morning just isn't what I like. I tried to force some oatmeal down the other day and it made my stomach hurt. I eat when I am hungry, usually in the afternoon I'm ready for a big dinner because that's how I grew up eating, so it works better for me to just bring a protein bar along to class and eat it about 11am.

I workout in the mornings and some days i will eat a peanut butter sandwich and a protein shake, other days i wont eat anything. It all depends on how i feel when i wake up. I cant tell much difference in the gym on days i eat compared to days i dont eat.

You don't NEED to eat breakfast if you don't want too!!! But personally I think because your have been asleep for say 7-8 hours with no food, you would wake up and be hungry???

But if your not hungry... Why eat???

Maybe try having some fruit with yoghurt in a boxl

2 x Weetabix with some milk

Cereal bar/protein bar on the go etc!!

Smoothies are great in the summer...

How you eat your calories is down to you.

See I love breakfast, and sometimes I have a big breakfast... No lunch, then dinner... Suits me and keeps me full for hours : )
