Losing on Anti-Anxiety Medication?

It seems since I've been on this dumb medication, the weight doesn't just "drop off" me anymore. Even just a year ago, it was so much easier to lose weight. I signed up for MFP a couple of weeks ago, and I weigh and measure everything that goes into my mouth. I've been very, very good about never going over my calorie goal. Normally I should be down at least 5 lbs by now - after not dieting, the first couple of weeks of eating a lot less always had that result - but this time, the scale hardly budges. My husband on the other hand lost 6 lbs in two weeks, and he doesn't weigh or measure anything. He couldn't be bothered.
It's not fair. I feel like I want to scream. I look at myself and I cannot stand it, but I don't know if I can keep this up if I don't get any results.
I have 100 lbs to go and it seems like I'm standing at the base of Mount Everest right now.
This is my first post. Sorry for not introducing myself properly. I don't know if there is an etiquette I'm supposed to follow...

Can you talk to your doctor about being put on another medication? I recently started Lexapro, and while it has become more difficult to lose, it's still coming off.
It's a real struggle, I feel for you!0 -
You may have to drop your calorie goal.0

Sometimes it can be a med, but age can make a huge change in how we lose weight. I've noticed it's not so simple as it was even a couple years back. Our metabolism simply slows down...
I may have missed the name of your med but checking in with your doctor or the paper that comes with your meds will give you an idea if weight gain comes with the drug.
Good luck:happy:0 -
Did the doctor say anything about the medication impacting your metabolism? I know some medications mess up the calories out side of the equation. Also, are you weighing and measuring all your foods and liquids, and logging accurately? I know some medications can mess up your satiety signals and you end up gaining weight because you're eating more from never feeling full - that's the only way I can think of that it could be screwing with your "calories in."0

Thank you for responding...
Yes, I have a digital kitchen scale that measures increments of 1 g at a time. I weigh or measure EVERYTHING.
I haven't talked to my doctor yet. But she didn't say anything about it when she prescribed it. This medication really helped me, I was suffering from severe panic attacks only months ago and I'm like a new person. It doesn't have any nasty side-effects. I'm just a more serene, more relaxed person. If I have to be fat to be happy, rather than skinny and out of my mind, I take the fat.
I have lowered my calorie goal now and see if that helps. Maybe with the slowing down of my metabolism (I'm 46) and this medication, it's going to be harder this time around.
Oh, and I am retaining a lot of water. I can feel it. I have the hope that although I'm retaining more water this week than last, and the scale didn't go up, maybe I did lose a bit of weight after all??? Here's to hoping!!0
