Scale fluctuations?

I know fluctuations are natural and normal, but apparently I have gained 2 kg in less than 2 hours after less than a quarter of a cup of water...can someone explain this to me? Literally nothing else has gone in my body, it's not heavy clothes, it's not faulty scales.

Weight fluctuates a lot... I always weigh myself at the same time of day the same day of the week. Don't sweat it...

Is the scale on a carpet? My roommates put the scale on a carpet in the washroom and the readings were so off I thought it was broken before I realized it was the carpet.

The scale isn't perfect either, so there's always that. There are all sorts of reasons for fluctuating weight. Don't try to fathom it, it's a mystery, lol.

I always take the scale reading with a pinch of salt, as you can't tell what it is making up that mass (i.e how much is muscle, bone mass, fat, contents of your gut, water, etc), or how accurate your scale is at any one time. I've been tempted to buy one of those expensive, superduper, wifi scales that measure a whole bunch of stats, but I've heard people complain that you get a lot of variation with them too. As long as the numbers are generally going downwards over a few weeks, I'm happy.

I also use the tape measure. It doesn't show as dramatic results as the scale does, but that might be a good thing :)
