Hypothyroidism

I'm new to this site & looking for guidance on how to lose weight with Hypo-Hypothyroidism.
I'm 50 yrs old & had my thyroid out 4 yrs ago.
Since then, I've gained 20 lbs and can't take it anymore.
I'm generally active. Try to walk/job at least 3 x a week.
Work 2 jobs...so I'm constantly active.
I'm not perfect, but try to maintain a good diet.
Although...I'll be honest. I like to enjoy a couple glasses of throughout the week to relax.
5 ft tall....180 lbs
112 mg Levothyroxine
HRT daily (although I just learned today that you not suppose to take together with thyroid)
Would of been nice if the Dr or pharmacist told me that...Ugh
Anyone have any words of wisdom or knowledge to help me along?

Hi, well had mine removed in 2007. My pills were 175 until about 2 weeks ago, Ive lost 40 pounds and my last blood test I was going into hyper. So he dropped me to 135. Next week I get blood drawn to see if it leveled off. Your pills seem low, but im not a Dr. Do u have blood drawn every 3 months? I do. Its a crazy ride with the Thyroid problems. People have no idea how much the thyroid controls. When your in a room of people and your the only one freezing and the sluggish feelings you get. The weird part was when I was going Hyper I wasn't losing weight any faster and had the same symptoms as hypo. Well good luck, And for me once I got the ball rolling it wasn't so hard. With me exercise is the key. If I don't keep moving I don't lose any weight.0

I didn't have mine removed but I do have hypo thyroid for many years now. I'm a type 1 diabetic and the hypo thyroid kinda goes hand and hand. I'm on Levothyroxine too. I successfully lost 110 pounds naturally in a year on mfp. You can do this.0

I have Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroid disease). I lost way more slowly than most MFPers, but I did it just like everybody else—by logging everything I eat & drink accurately & honestly.
The advice in this post worked for me: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1080242-a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-Sexypants
MFP has two thyroid groups:

Just keep at it.
My personal experience is that I have managed to lose weight, albiet a bit more slowly than others, with diet/excercise and thyroxine.0
