The 4 day diet

results: In 4 days you can lose about 5 pounds. A spanish study said it's possible, if you eat 320 calories a day and do 9 hours of cardio daily. Also, people lost more muscle then fat at first, and the fat came back within a year but the muscle hasn't. Conclusion: Personally, I couldn't make 4 days on 320 calories; and losing weight too quickly results in muscle loss which takes longer then a year to replace. And 9 hours of cardio is just about impossible for most people. Pass.

For anyone who tries this in my area, I will totally be seeing you in the ER for exhaustion, dehydration, malnutrition, and then some... This just sounds like an all-around bad idea.0 -
My breakfast is more then 320 calories! I would pass out and probably become hospitalized , it sounds like an awful idea. I wouldn't wish this diet on my worst enemy. Lol0

Do you wonder where they found people willing to try this?0 -
How much of the weight that was lost in this study was the bodies of friends and family members the participants murdered?0

My Spanish is weak; I can order eggs, chicken, and beer. I'll check and see if any Spaniards were killed; my guess is the same amount of people who cheered against their home team as Spain was ousted from the world cup this year.0 -
I think four consecutive day fasting is interesting because of longevity studies, but there is nothing conclusive in humans, at least not yet. It's really interesting reading, though. The documentary Eat, Fast, & Live Longer talks about it, along with other means of calorie restriction and fasting.0

They lost 11 pounds on average. 2 protocols, one sugar, the other protein; neither prevented muscle loss, they both were equall offenders.0

Sounds like going backpacking to me. 10 hours of cardio and only whatever amount of food you can reasonably carry. Has you in guarenteed net negative calories, as in 2600 intake but 5-6000+ TDEE.
I'm going on a 6 day hike tomorrow so I am basically doing this "diet" although not for the purpose of weight loss, I just like backpacking.0 -
