Calorie target seems high?

Hi everyone. I'm new, just signed up. I'm currently at 348lbs and I'm 5'11. My calorie target daily is 2800. Isn't that rather high? I'd like to lose 1.5-2lbs per week. I know a minimum amount of calories is necessary to avoid going into starvation etc but this seems like a high target.

What activity level did you choose?0

Lightly active? I do 30 mins on the stationary bike each morning, do some walking each day but not a great deal. I don't spend too long sitting down. Drive quite a bit each day. I'm not sure do I count as sedentary rather than lightly active?0

Yes I would choose sedentary
Unless you have a job that has you on your feet close to 8 hours a day I would choose the other. If that is not working for you then you can reevaluate

Will do. I thought it was kind of high! :-)0

Now have a slightly more realistic target of 2190. Thanks for the advice. This is a bit of a learning curve for me.0

2800 cals would probably maintain someone half of your weight, around 12 stone, so if anything I would think it's too low a goal to start with. If you have logged what you eat now, or before, to maintain your present weight then in (very) simple terms dropping 1000 cals a day from that should get you towards your 1.5-2lbs loss. Think marathon, not sprint and have a tinker around if you're not losing what you hope.0
