My reality....need to lose over 100lbs, now on BP medication

Losing weight is so hard to stick with...long-term. Two years ago, I was on a roll, lost 45 lbs, exercised 4 times a week, and thought that I had finally beat the yo-yo curse. However, over the past two years, I've gained it back! At that time, I had a weightloss buddy and exercise partner which was helpful. Now, my lifestyle is busy, no more workout pal, and recently went to doctor for heart palpitations and was put on BP medication. I'm so bummed. But, it's time to get over it and work towards making life changes - so I can have a life!! Back on MFP, and look forward to connecting with others to share stories and go on the weight loss and healthy living journey with. Since I was on MFP months ago, I lost one pound...yay! It's a start.....

this is a great site lots of motivation and encouragement. Just track your food and exercise daily and dont go over your goals. You can do it. It is easier if you break it up into 10'20 lb increments and just concentrate on that as 100lbs can be a bit overwhelming. I know0 -
Well at least you went to the doctor and faced up to it - I wouldn't even go to the doc until I'd already LOST the weight, lol. I knew my BP was wack, suspected I was on the way to diabetes, and figured I was screwed. No doubt in my mind that losing all that weight spared me those problems as well as the dreaded scolding from the doctor. When I finally went my BP was great, all blood cholesterol stuff in excellent range, weight/BMI ideal range... it's totally worth working for! Hang in there. You'll be glad you did!0

I'm not trying to be rude but trying is not actually DOING. You have to push yourself and think about the goals that you want. Put picturees everywhere on how you want to be like and put pictures of yourself. It'll motivate you. Before I workout I watch the workout video and try to learn and analyze the moves that way i perform them accurately with good posture and form, they do matter.
Rid your house of treats! Or if you have family members that eat treats, at least keep them away from you. Find that thing that motivates you and watch it. When i have those days where i don't want to workout and feel like doing nothing, i see my workout videos and i just have to get up and do it!
No worries, you'll reac your goals with determination; i was only 22 pounds away form being 200 lbs and i wasnt even a teenager! Tired of being teased and what not, i started to be tough on myself and just pushed myself to the limit. I woke up sore and hurt everywhere but i love that pain because it means you are changing your body. I lost almost 40 or so pounds with Turbo Jam. Ever since i entered college last year, i gained 15 pounds. After letting loose and eating i went back into control before i gained those 40+ pounds back. Now i have 10 pounds to go and 2.2 BMI points to lose so i can be at a normal BMI. You can do it.0 -

I'm exactly where you are!
Several years ago, I had last a good chunk of weight. I was focused and disciplined, and eating right. Then....I met my fiance, and that was enough to get me off track. That was seven years ago, and I've been fighting ever since. I've even had the Lap-band surgery, but not successful and for the same reasons.....I haven't been focused or disciplined -- although, it does keep my from overeating. So, I haven't gained all my weight back since the surgery, but I keep bouncing between the same pounds.
I've now decided that I need to take action, or I am going to be facing serious health problems I won't be able to turn around. I work in a doctor's office, and see it every single day. Someone comes in with high blood pressure, and maybe arthritis in the knees. They need to exercise to improve these conditions, but are unable to effectively because of them!
So, now I'm getting myself back on the road to good health. I've failed before, but I know if I stick with it I can ward off future problems for as long as possible. A big motivator for me is I just want to feel better.

Welcome back Marsha. HBP or not keep to your goals, but keep them real shoot for 20 lbs at a time. watch your salt intake and do your cardio after you workout. i have hbp and it has been stable all the time i have been working out. reach out if you would like some help. i am an a AFAA (Aerobics &Fitness Association of America) CPT I will help anyone that is serious fitness.0

Thanks for the encouraging words!! I just came back from a 15 minute walk at work. Mid-late afternoon is usually the time I get sleepy and want to snack. It was refreshing to get out and enjoy the sun. Have a great evening!0
