ADF dieters: Ok to stay below 500 cal on fast days?

I've found that it's easier for me to not eat at all (apart from my morning coffee) on fast days. Every morning I have the same coffee/cream/sugar combo that comes out to 220 calories. On fast days, I find that it's easier mentally and hunger-wise to let that be it for the day, rather than add in another mini meal or two. Is this ok?

Thoughts?

A fast is technically less than 10 calories per hour. And not 120 all at once. If you're doing alternate day fasting, 200 for breakfast would blow that up. But if you don't have anything else, it might count on a technicality... I guess.

I think 500 is supposed to be an upper limit, so you're probably fine.

I do 5:2 and have done ADF. I also prefer to eat nothing on fast days. 500 calories just whet my appetite for more. I'm off it this week because I caught a cold and for once couldn't eat enough on feed days to make it a good idea, but in general IF with zero calorie fast days is my favorite way to go.

It also means I get to eat more on feed days. In fact, I have to, in order to average out my daily calories high enough for the week. So be sure to compensate on those feed days if you go zero some fast days.

If it works for you, there is no problem. If you don't have appetite problems, you don't need to worry about this 10 calorie per hour stuff. The fact is you can consume your calories at any time per day and your body will burn through it, and be at deficit.

Yeah, you are good. UP to 500 cals is what they talk about. Eat. Stop. Eat advocates staying as close to 0 as possible.
