Hi! I have PCOS. I haven't been diagnosed but I know its my problem!
I weigh 240 and have lost 40 lbs but recently have put 15 lbs back on! Its so easy to gain with PCOS and so hard to lose. To lose the 40 I did managed to get off, though, I worked out doing Zumba at home about 6 days a week and just watched what I ate. I am a picky eater. So, that makes it though. But, I mainly stay away from carbs and try to walk as often as possible during the week.
Less carbs, more protein, more exercise!0 -

Just got diagnosed. I've had trouble losing my whole life.
The times I was successful in the past were mostly because I cut my intake WAAY down and increased my activity. It was really extreme. Like (1) when I was biking 6 miles a day (didn't have a car) and eating oat bran for breakfast, half a sandwich for lunch, and the other half a sandwich for dinner and (2) when I ran track in high school and limited my lunch to uh, salad, and cut way down on other meals too.
And it all came off S L O W.
And if I even so much as looked at bread or a cupcake or something... (squish noise) ... I'd pile it all back on and then some. And here I am at a buck seventy five, all 5'2" of me. (I tease my fiance when we're hiking. "If I get exhausted and keel over, you can just roll me down the mountain.")
It's been discouraging to say the least. Months of 2 hour workouts, only to drop 5 pounds... running every other day and only maintaining. Eventually being too fatigued to work out or plan healthy meals. And always going nuts trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. Beating myself up for not trying hard enough.
Even this past year, when my doc put me on stimulants for ADD. Nothing. No change in my diet or exercise or energy and I still gain.
The weight gain, my sleeping habits (all the time) and libido (suddenly none) didn't really register with me, since I'd been struggling all my life and growing up, my parents had just chalked it up to me being lazy, a teenager, a piggy, or all three. Good thing my fiance gave me some perspective and bugged me to go see my doctor.
You'd think I'd be bummed to find out. But it's actually awesome:
(1) Fertility problems? Sweet! I don't want kids! And if I change my mind there's always adoption. Too many kiddos out there without loving, accepting homes.
(2) More importantly (and on topic) This recent diagnosis makes me hopeful. Know your enemy and all that. My doc has put me on metformin, and from what I've read about it, seems like it might help.
(3) I finally have an explanation for my hairy toes. I always thought everyone else just, I dunno, shaved them?
So here goes ... something! Feel free to add me back!0
