I was born in the UK and live in Canada and I've honestly only ever heard those words mispronounced by Americans. Maybe a regional accent thing?

Is it new-clear or nuke-u-lar or newk-ler? New-clee-er? I say the other like Wilford Brimley just for fun.

I'm more interested in why, with a properly functioning keyboard, persons seem compelled to type 'u' instead of 'you' or '2' instead of 'to' or any other myriad of annoying, contemporary parlance.

I personally have a hard time pronouncing Horror. Every time I say the word people double take and ask what the heck I'm talking about... they definitely hear a different word. Every time.

I say both depending. i think it's a region thing. I think the horror issue actually stems from a childhood speech impediment.
