Hey...
I am working on transitioning to a Plant Based Vegan Diet for health reasons.
I LOVE the Happy Herbivore Cookbooks. We use those all the time.
My husband has been Vegan almost 2 years now and I am now looking to make the switch, and would love to add some Vegan friends on here to get support and meal ideas/recipies.

Hii! I am not the most active on MFP, but I'd love to exchange recipes with you and this will give me a reason to be more active. I have dabbled in veganism for some time now, though have not fully committed for health reasons. I fall more towards the Mediterranean side of veganism

Hello! I am no longer vegan (vegetarian now with very limited dairy/eggs), but I use many recipes from http://www.vegkitchen.com/ and http://ohsheglows.com/. They have a lot of very tasty but simple recipes to make. A lot of it will use things that a moderately stocked veg* kitchen would have, which saves on store trips.

While it's not a vegan channel, I'm sure you can vegan-ize a lot of these recipes! I'm a huge fan of Laura in the Kitchen on Youtube. She recently posted a stuffed "foccacia" bread recipe with marinated veggies and fresh spinach, and I'm sure you could substitute cheese with a non-dairy alternative. Thing was basically a stuffed pizza bread, and looked amazing. Definitely could make a meal out of that!0

Aedreana here, 43 years vegan. My best advice is as follows: Do not expect to be able to determine whether a product is vegan by reading the label! Additives which can be of animal origin exist in nearly all food products. Natural OR synthetic minerals, vitamins, natural flavoring, artificial flavoring, etc.-- and 99% of the time, the manufacturer won't know or won't say whether additives are of animal origin! Do not rely on internet searches of ingredient origins or whether a product is vegan--because most internet info along those lines is bogus if it doesn't come straight from the product manufacturer. Be aware that not all ingredients will necessarily be listed on a product label. For example, "flour," "whole wheat flour," "wheat flour," "unbleached flour" listed on bread or cracker labels almost certainly contains FDA-mandated additives to "enrich" the flour. The additives might be from animal sources. Only "100% whole wheat flour" is likely to be additive-free. But most bread made with that contains honey and is therefore nonvegan."Modified food starch" usually contains animal enzymes. Never ever trust the I Can't Believe It's Vegan list online because PETA is not a true vegan organization (they also are mass murderers of innocent animals)--- PETA defines a product containing 2% or less of animal ingredients to be "vegan" so, the list is worthless! "White grape juice," another example. could have been clarified with gelatin that isn't required to be listed on the label. Decades ago, I used to see products labeled "vegan" but upon reading the ingredients, saw that they contained honey! Don't trust store personnel or restaurant personnel to know whether something is vegan. Even sandwiches or salad bar dishes labeled vegan might not be-- check the ingredients; I have known stores to overlook nonvegan ingredients. Just don't ever make assumptions, if you decide to turn vegan!0
