Today is day 1 with my Jawbone (Ive only had it on since I came home from work about 5 hours ago)....can someone explain the difference between Total/Active/Resting burn? They sound pretty self explanatory, but the #s are throwing me.
Total Burn: 1362
Active Burn: 83
Resting Burn: 1279
I did the JM Ripped in 30, there is NO WAY I only burned 84 calories? Which is why I think I am not 100% understanding what these #s mean. How do I have a resting burn in 1270 cal and only a burn of 84 cal during Active burn.
Clearly, Im missing something here. What do those #s mean? Sorry to sound like such a novice, I normally just calorie count and just recently started adding working out to my routine and I dont want to be logging too many calories burned and end up eating more than Im burning. Thanks so much!!!!

I am trying to figure out the same thing! I just got my Jawbone today activated it and did an hour long Total Body transformation and it said i burned 168 calories..... that cant be right...0

resting would be your bmr, and active would be when you are doing steps. i think it is only measures steps? (i've never used one)0

You have to add the activity. Go to your steps page; click on the + in the upper right and add your activity, intensity and time- then click the check- mark. that will add the active calories.0

jawbone is a pedometer - it only counts steps. other activities you have to add yourself.
What I dis is link up MFP with jawbone and enter my exercices and food in MFP - seems more accurate.0 -
Your total burn is your TDEE—way more accurate than any online calculator. If you eat less than your Jawbone UP total burn, you will lose weight.
MFP has a Jawbone UP Bracelet group: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/13370-jawbone-up-bracelet
Connect your accounts: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/apps/show/97
Enable negative calorie adjustments: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings
Log non-step exercise in the UP app—not MFP.
Follow your MFP calorie goal. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.0
