Coming to terms with a new size

I have found that recently I have been noticing my body in a different light. there had been a lot of changes between 167 pounds and 135 pounds on my 5'4" small frame, but they were gradual changes and weren't as noticeable so fast. But recently (in the last 6 pounds or so) my body has changed dramatically, at least in my eyes. My boobs have shrunk again, my waist lost another inch, and thighs are noticeably smaller (went from no thigh gap to a thigh gap in about 2 weeks, which I didn't even know my body was capable of that). I'm still losing between .5-1 pound a week so my loss hasn't gotten any faster, in fact it has slowed down a lot since getting closer to my goal.

Don't get me wrong, I'm loving the way I look. I was just shocked by how fast it suddenly happened!

I was wondering if anyone has had this happen, where it seems everything shrinks all at once? How did you come to terms with a new emerging body?

Happy July 4th everyone!

My body does this all the time. It seems like I lose scale weight for awhile, without much noticeable difference, then the scale will stop moving, but my body starts shrinking! It is kinda weird, but that is when the fun of shopping for smaller clothes comes in!

Thats true! I've developed a shopping problem during this journey! lol
  • I will be following this. I realized the other day when I forced myself to buy a couple new things to wear that I have no idea what my body really looks like.Yes I know I'm smaller but it still shocks me to have to go get an even smaller size than I guess with an eye roll and chuckle. Then yesterday I had 2 clients tell me I shouldn't lose anymore. I only have 5-10 more lbs but still still see the old me. I would love to see how others learn to believe what's in the mirror and on the size tags.

I agree I'm down 42 lbs and one day I walked past the mirror and was like "wow that's me?". It's a nice feeling. I was shopping with my 14 year old daughter yesterday and saw a beautiful pair of Calvin Klein dress pants and when I came out of the dressing room I said to her, they don't fit? I smiled and said NOPE TOO BIG! They were an 8 :drinker: Sadly they didn't have the 6.

Yes! Absolutely. From 119 to 118 pounds  , or from 118 to 119 pounds:frown: that one particular pound is always right at my waistline! Excess weight doesn't just enlarge us; it also distorts us. When excess fat forms rolls and bulges, it is suddenly very noticeable when those particular fat deposits are gone.

I love that feeling of grabbing pants and I think "no way will I fit into a size 6 in women's pants! I'm about a size 12" then I put them on and have to go find a size 4 lol.

 I've never noticed a 1# scale weight difference in my clothes or image in the mirror. Normal fluctuations are just that. However, when I put on 5+ pounds, or lose 5#, that becomes a horse of a different color. I don't carry excess weight well but can weather a pound or 2 fluctuation. I'm 5' CW: 123 GW: 110

Yes it's crazy! Plus, I now have to try EVERYTHING on and can no longer shop online. Because I still keep trying to buy 3x when I actually need 1X to 2x (depending on what it is Need bigger tops cause my boobs unfortunately haven't shrunk yet)

I am no where near a size 6, and on my frame (I am 5'9 and not naturally thin) I don't think I ever will be . . . but even now, I have pants that use to give me a muffin top and now I easily can pull 2 - 3 inches from my waist, I have bras that I used to need to hook onto the last possible loop and now even the closest hook is getting to be too big around me.

I do find though that when I have lost, I feel like I haven't and when I'm stagnant for a few weeks I feel thinner/smaller . . . I am not sure if this is me just getting used to it because, let's face it, even an inch smaller makes a big difference when it's your own body. I just found this issue with myself odd - and not sure if anyone else experiences anything like this?

This is so true. An inch makes a big difference to me. But my body has changed a lot over the course of the last 40 pounds.

    Starting measurements:
    Bust: 40"
    Waist: 31"
    Hips:39"
    Thigh: 22"

    Today's Measurements:
    Bust: 34"
    Waist: 25"
    Hips: 34"
    Thigh: 18"

So it has been a big journey over the last 6 months lol

Yes, yes, YES, all of this!!! I'm 5'4". SW: 252, CW: 142, GW: 125. I swear, the smaller I get, I can tell every ounce I lose. I look in the mirror in awe that it's me. I bought work clothes in sizes 6 & small last week, OMG!

I know the feeling of coming to terms with your new size. I still haven't yet. My measurements have changed drastically from when I first started my weight loss journey.

    My starting measurements(three years ago)
    Bust: 38"
    Waist:32"
    Stomach:39"
    Hips:42"
    Thighs:26"
    SW: 176lbs

    Today's Measurements
    Bust:34"
    Underbust: 27"
    Waist: 23"
    Stomach: 29"
    Hips: 34.5"
    Thighs R22" L21"
    CW: 122lbs

I still always see the old me in the mirror and can't believe how much my body has changed.
