Eating too less, want to eat more but too scared?

edited February 26 in Health and Weight Loss
So I've been eating around 400-500 calories this week and I know how unhealthy this is. I've been wanting to eat more and slowly up my calories back to 1200. I just can't do it, I pretended to eat my dinner and lunch because I didn't know the exact calorie amount. I wanted to eat a 150 calorie ice cream but ended up eating a 60 calorie fruit bar because I wanted to eat no more than 500, even though my body needs some extra calories. I grew this intense fear of eating anything unhealthy. What should I do to break my distorted eating habits?

  • Talk to someone about it. It's sounds as if you are suffering from symptoms of an eating disorder, and it is important to seek help. Your body needs nutrients, and you can not provide yourself all that you require through 500 calories. I suggest bringing it up with your doctor who will be able to direct you to a specialist. Best of luck!

Seek help from your doctor. You need a referral to an eating disorders specialist.

I've experienced this same thing. Check my diary out.. One day I was in the negative! Thursday night after my workout I felt very ill chills nausea.. Wasn't until I ate some tacos from jack in the box I felt 100% better. Please eat! It won't harm you. Add me

How about instead of eating "some tacos from Jack in the Box" (!!!!!) you try some real, whole, nutritionally-dense foods? Getting 500-600 or NEGATIVE calories will result in organ damage and muscle wasting. You'll look and feel horrid. You body cannot function on that type of intake.

You posted about this like two days ago. No one on here can help you. You need a doc. For your head. At least tell someone you know and love.

Because I still had calories left and they were only 380 calories so I ate them...

Eating healthy food makes sense. It's good to be healthy.

Being afraid to eat is not normal. You must know that.

Call your doctor and get a referral - the sooner, the better. When the office opens would be good.

It's the smart thing to do.

And if you can eat, do that!

HAH! I don't. In fact, between yesterday and today, I earned an extra swim/run double.
