Measuring pasta?

I scanned in the pasta I was eating with the barcode scanner and it said '1 cup' so I measured out 1 cup of dry pasta, but now I'm second guessing what I ate. Did it mean 1 cup cooked? How can you tell?

You need a scale, and to weigh the pasta dry. Because depending on how much you cook it, it can absorb more water and the serving size changes. I never trust cup measurements for stuff like dry pasta, shredded cheese, rice, etc... The only way I can know for sure what I'm eating is to weight it.

One cup dry. It is better to weigh dry foods on a scale, though. Only use cups for liquids.

Ahhh okay, good. :) And I don't have a scale yet, which is why I need to use cups. I should get one though.
