FitBit and cycling

Hello, new Fitbit One user here. I rode my bike for the first time in many years (yay!) and wore the fitbit, expecting to log cycling time separately. But the fitbit appears to have logged some of the cycling as steps, and some of the hills as stairs. Since I also logged the cycling time, is the fitbit double counting (steps plus cycling) or will it override the steps once the cycling is entered?
Is it better to just leave the fitbit behind when cycling to avoid this?
I don't care so much about being super exact with the calorie burn, but a little more food today would be nice. It would save me from trying to gnaw off my arm. I need arms.

Your logged exercise will override what the fitbit mistook for steps and stairs.0

Yeah, I use Map my Ride, or Map my Fitness for this very reason. Fitbit only counts "steps."0

Perfect. Thank you.0

The floors might remain but they don't affect your calorie burn.0

Yes, the floors and steps are still showing up on the fitbit log. Next time I'll just leave the Fitbit in the car. Sure was nice to get the bike out for the first time in forever!0
