Blew it this weekend

So big party this weekend last weekend, was able to keep my count ok on last trip out of town, not sure how. I cheated and ckd the scale before I left on fri, and I was so happy I went down six lbs. I ate alittle bit of everything, and two servings of the deserts, yes that was an 's. Two much variety to calculate. I fasted the day before I went. It was like I had no control, I'm so embarrassed. On the way home from today stopped to pick up groceries, I picked up a 4 serving container of Wegmans organic ice cream. Picked up a rotisserie chicken to try to get some carbs in today. Came home ate 5 oz chix, family member was eating ice cream, I knew I hadn't eaten my calories for the day, so I went to the freezer and helped myself to one serving of my ice cream, ate it really slow, but when it was gone I helped myself to a second third and fourth (empty) surviving. I can't believe I ate as I did, I was doing so good, and I don't think I will have too much trouble picking right up. But I couldn't help after sucking down the ice cream, to step on the scale, and yes I went up a whole six lbs....six!!!
I can't figure out how I let this happen, so ticked off with myself. Tomorrow is my weigh in and measurement day, I almost want to skip it cause I know it's gonna bring me down. Something else not helping it's my tom. Which I think contributed to the over eating. Blah blah blah sorry guys.

Yes me too. I had some chocolate cake and ice cream, went over my calorie count yesterday, but am back on track today.0

What really matters is what you do from this point forward. My friend Mike always tells me "Yesterday ended at midnight."0

Just pick yourself up and do better this week. It happens. On July 4th I ate so much I didn't even both logging it besides a general "about 3000 calories" for the day lol.0

hey, the weekend is over. start over. it's a new week. let it go. I lost 20 pounds and then gained 5 back.over all I'm down 50 but it's not tracked here. I just joined this site to help me get my blood sugar in line. keep the goal in sight. now I'm back on track.
don't beat yourself up. it sounds like you know what to do. most of us do. if you don't fall once in a while you wouldn't be human.0 -
The only way to fail is not to get back up when you fall off the wagon.
It's in the past, you can't change it now. Try not to dwell on it, you'll only make yourself guilty with it.0 -
I would give it a week. I doubt you gained 6 pounds. Give it a week to let it all even out and your TOM to be done. It's never as bad as you think. I like the comment about yesterday ending at midnight. Get back on track and move on.0

I ate 4 pieces of cake last night and tonight I ate half a medium pizza. And I had nutella bread pudding for breakfast. I rarely get to see our extended family, there was lots of food and celebration, and I enjoyed every second and bite of it. Strict adherence to my calorie goal goes back into effect tomorrow. Log it and move on.0

Exactly this...the foods were different...but same for me. I knew I was going to do it, and didn't let it bother me.
I got back on track yesterday, and I've already forgotten about the 4th.0 -
One day or days does not a weight loss journey make. Just get right back to it. Don't beat yourself up. Own what you did and move on. I could come up with dozens more of these but you get the point.
I believe that things like birthday cake and family gatherings are important. I also believe they make up no more than 15% of our lives. The remaining 85% is where we stay on our path. :flowerforyou:0 -

Like someone else said that is actually not 6 pounds of weight gain. Most likely sodium blah blah. Each pound is what 3500 calories? Are you thinking you ate 12k. Hmmm0

I think fasting the day before probably is where you went wrong. If you had cut 400cals from the day before, ate at maintenance the day of the wedding, then cut 400cals from the day after you would have had plenty of calories to work with.0

You fasted the day before? Well, what did you expect to happen? Your body was screaming for fuel!
Yesterday I ate a McDonalds brekkie (sausage mcmuffin/hash browns yummo!), chips and a hot dog for lunch, and had a big roast lamb dinner. Am I flipping out? No. Because that day was pre-planned and also, I know one day of eating too much is not going to kill me.0 -
Definitely get back on track tomorrow and if you can, forget the scale for a few days or a week.
I had a humdinger of a feed fest on Saturday but today I got back on track. I would think that the majority of people here have done this, not just once either.
Don't quit or beat yourself up for it. Let the good days outnumber the bad and keep on keeping on and you'll get to goal! :flowerforyou:0 -
I hear ya!! That is the reason why I gave up the second time. I quit counting cause it was the holidays, and I knew I had gained like 5 lbs. So I gave up, then I gained an extra 10!! Its ok to gain a few lbs, like the others said as long as you start again. You can ALWAYS lose the weight again. Don't give up on what great progress you've had so far!0

I definitely ate more junk and drank way more alcohol than I planned to over the weekend, it's the first time I've gone well over my calorie limit and I felt guilty for a while. I enjoyed the weekend though, and I'm going to remember this 4th of July for the fun I had, not for beating myself up over what I ate or drank. The weekend is over & I'm focused on doing better this week. I think what counts is not losing sight of the overall importance of exercising and eating to be healthy. It doesn't seem like you have.0

Try not to worry about one day, tomorrow and the next day comes and it will all even out in the end. The problem lies when we blow it for six months!!0

Thank you allI back on track today, so far so good. My weight showed one lb on loss, and for the first time since I've started I show 2 1/2 inches lost. Still gonna be more prepared next holiday!0

I have a few spare tires if you need them.
But really, it's not such a big deal to make mistakes. My holiday weekend was a complete self-sabbotage. *shrug*
Just move on. Learn from mistakes. All that happy jazz.

My brother was visiting me this weekend and I haven't seen him for a year so we went I out for dinner and drinks. Oh, the drinks! Three ciders, a wine, two bloody Marys and I've got myself a couple thousand calories on that alone. I hardly ever go out so at least there's that but I work in a bar and I see people come in every single night, drink something like ten pints of beer and then come back the next day and do the same again. Hardly any of them are overweight. How do they manage that?? I mean they're clearly not healthy but they're nowhere near as fat as I know I'd be on that amount of calories. I guess they don't eat much or something.0
