Cutting out a type of food won't break a plateau...just as an FYI.
Adjusting calories to see what makes it break will break a plateau. It's all about calories in/calories out. Not where the food comes from.0 -
it will break plateaus if "eating out" consists of eating 1500 calories worth of burger king whoppers or pizza hut and substituting that with home cooked meals of half the caloric/fat intake0
-
maybe for you fast food has a different meaning but for most people fast food consists of some of the unhealthiest foods available lol0

I could cut out fast food, but if I'm not at a deficit still, I won't lose. If I've plateaued at a weight for a month and there's no inches lost or pounds lost, I know my calories are too high, and I need to adjust lower.
That is how breaking a plateau works. Not cutting out a type of food. You need to be diligent about your caloric numbers/intake to break a plateau.0 -

I still eat McDonald's occasionally, and lose weight consistently. I make smart choices.
I create a calorie deficit and fit foods into my macros.
You can still eat fast food and still lose weight.0 -
Count me in starting tommorow!:flowerforyou:0

Mission I think you misunderstood my post, it is for others who want to join in cutting out fast food for 30 days due to the unhealthy nature of it, my point about it helping me break plateaus is because I am planning to keep my other caloric intake as is and I am just substituting the fast food meals for healthier/lower calorie home cooked meals.
It is common knowledge about the calories in/calories out and it is obvious that no results will be seen if you cut out fast food and substitute it with other foods that are equal to or higher in calories0 -

Did you come in here specifically to lecture or were you actually interested in joing the challenge. I really don't think he was asking for your advice. Just simply stating what his plan was and asking if anyone wanted to join him. Whether his method is scientific enough for you or not, chances are if he is eating junk food everyday in abundance (as he stated in one post, 1500 cals of it a day sometimes) and cuts it, he will probably lose weight and maybe feel a bit better. But again that's only my opinion, there's millions of them worldwide!0 -
lol donners185 thank you for the post I was thinking the exact same thing0

I would but I can't. Real food is expensive sometimes.0
-
Count me in, I need to start preparing healthier food at home more often.0
-
I've already have at least 3 weeks without trying fast food, but will gladly join for another month.0
-
Is Chipotle considered fast food? If not, I am in0
-
i could do that. every time i do i regret it anyway. my husband says every time you eat fast food you feel like you ate a rock for a while, and then like you ate nothing at all. its nothing food. nothing in it that improves your body's ability to function....
so i say good riddance. whether or not it changes any plateaus it would still be good.0 -
I'm in! I eat take out 1-2 times a week, i'm sure i can not have any for a month, i hope lol0
-
Oh me, I'm just starting up on this I heard it was a great website to lose weight with other people and to see others success stories. I wana be one of those people. I'm definitely in, would be a good thing to do, but would also be really hard challenge since Fast Food Restaurants are just down the road.0

there is the price of things, and then the cost of things. the cost is what matters.
there are ways to eat what you make for the same money or less, if you want to.0 -
Good challenge. I've done 40 days with no fastfood (subway once or twice). I feel better without it. Yeah.. watch out for the highly opinionated, If we think you're saying something wrong we will jump down your throat nazi's. Yes I could go to MacDonald's and eat half my daily allowance there, but I would feel like crap and not be satisfied. I would happily do another 30 days :-)
Edited to correct spelling!0 -
I haven't had fast food in three years ... if you stay away long enough, you won't even miss it or think about saturating your body with all that unhealthy grease.0
-
This is good timing for me too. My husband and I have just challenged each other to eat no fast food for 8 weeks. I don't know whether I could hold out that long but I am willing to give it a good go. If i succeed he has promised to buy me a new pair of shoes I have my eye on lol0
