logging when nothing stays down?

How do you log when you're sick? Like if you're throwing everything up before any nutrients can really be absorbed?
Obviously I'm more worried about getting better than I am about counting calories at this point, but I was just curious!

I tend to just not log when I'm sick....I just skip those days and get started on a healthy track when I think I can actually keep food down.
As much as I love seeing the Kuroko gif, I think its unnecessary when she's asking a legit question.0 -
Cute gif but that doesn't satisfy my curiosity at all0

not logging would ruin a streak though and if you're keeping track of days logging to follow your progress you may not want to skip a day.
So log what you think stayed down maybe? Feel better0 -

Just add a block of calories to your day in the morning and that's it if you only want to keep your streak going. If you're sick, focus on getting better and not getting into smaller jeans.0 -

Just an FYI - Logging food has nothing to do with number of days you log on to MFP.
OP - I would just skip logging the food on days you are sic, make a note in the Food Diary Notes section if you want to track why you didn't log any food and concentrate on getting better!0 -
Personally I wouldn't bother trying to log, it won't be accurate anyway. Just try and keep sipping water to keep hydrated.
Hope you feel better soon.0 -
Thank you guys, that's what I was wondering. Getting better is definitely my first priority ^^. It just seemed kinda funny to say "I ate this!" when really I didn't have a chance to digest it0

If/when I'm sick, I don't care one fig about calories. I don't log anything. I might log into the site, but I'm not logging food or trying to calculate how much of what I ate just got horked up.
Also, it doesn't affect your login streak.
Also, your login streak doesn't matter.0 -
Don't try to eat if you're not keeping anything down. Just aim to stay hydrated (clear liquids only). When the sickness lessens, you can try to eat something again. The BRAT diet is usually what's recommended for stomach upsets - banana, rice, applesauce, toast. But don't force yourself to eat if you don't feel up to it. Your appetite will come back when your digestive system is ready for food again.
If you want to log (e.g. so you stay in the habit) just log whatever, it really doesn't matter at this point, just log what it takes to stay in the habit of it. Don't try to hit your calorie goal when you're sick though, that's likely to make you more sick and it's a waste of food. You'll be in a big deficit for a short time, this will deplete your glycogen stores, which means a big loss of water weight, this weight will come back again after you start eating normally again, and it's unlikely that any of the weight lost is lean mass. Some of it may even be fat (but most of it will be water/glycogen).0 -
Okay okay, I'm sorry I was snarky... after being here 7 months and being mostly appropriate, this question was just... my breaking point.
No, don't log it. Congratulations that you're so committed to MFP, but seriously. If you have a cold and you're eating bland but real food, log it. If you're so ill that you're concerned about dehydration, just let it go.0 -
If you are concerned that you need to keep logging to ensure you keep a routine - just enter what you have eaten. it is true that this will not be technically accurate but keeps you in the routine. It is virtually impossible to accurately know what your body has been able to digest but it is likely that it may have pulled something - probably at the very least simple sugars and electrolytes that are readily available.0
