How did you overcome a plateau?

I would like to hear from you what you did to eventually overcome a weight loss plateau. Thanks!

Started tracking my food and shifted to a completely different workout (went from running to doing Turbo Fire). BAM! Finally helped me to get to the 100 lbs lost mark!

Feel free to friend me! :)

Change something - This could be work out intensity or duration (personally I prefer intensity), calorie change (some argue eat more or less) - consider a fasting or a feasting day :)
  • It totally depends! I've plateaued a few times and for a few different reasons.

The first time that I plateaued, it's because I wasn't measuring food/drinks properly. I was only guesstimating portion sizes, which I thought was good enough. It turns out though, that guesstimating portions can sometimes add, like, 500 calories to your daily intake. Once I started to strictly measure everything out, I overcame my plateau.

My most recent plateau was because I wasn't eating enough. Weird, I know. But MFP calculated that I should have been eating 1260 calories a day. I was exercising and not eating my exercise calories back, which threw my body for a loop. I wasn't eating enough to sustain myself and I couldn't lose any weight because of it. I decided to eat more (1400-1700 calories a day) and then I overcame my plateau.

Good luck! Feel free to add me if you want :)

I'm having the same issue. I measure most things out, however I don't measure out smaller things like seasonings (but leave a few hundred calories uneaten every day to account for stuff like that). I've been doing the same workouts, so I'm wondering if changing that up will help me overcome my plateau...

I remind myself that there is no such thing as a plateau and just move on. Either I am eating / exercising at maintenance or I'm not. If you aren't losing weight, barring muscle gain, water retention or simply being impatient, than you need to eat less or move more to lose weight.
