Can anyone help?

Hi all

I have lost nearly 5 stone since the start of February (I lost some weight previous to finding this app). I have now stalled in my weightless even though I am now exercising more than ever.

I follow "the hairy dieters" cook book religiously so I do not think I have slipped back into old habits. I need to lose the last 14-20 pounds quickly as I have enrolled in a half marathon so I have until October to shift the last bit :-)

Many thanks for any advice you can offer, please keep your insults to yourselves :-)

Richard

Good job on the 5 stone. The last pounds come up slowly for everyone. Be patient and keep doing the good things that you are doing.

Are you weighing, measuring, and logging EVERYTHING you eat?

It wouldn't matter what cookbook you are using, what matters is that you are eating in a caloric deficit.

If you have lost weight like you have, and upped your exercise like you're saying, you might not be eating ENOUGH calories. No way to tell you much unless you open up your diary for us to look deeper.

Congrats on the 5 stone!! A great achievement!!

Looking at your diary, I don't think there is anything obvious. The last lbs are hard to shift, as has already been said. Have you been measuring arms, legs, waist etc??? You could be gaining muscle which is hiding the loss on the scales. You could also try mixing things up a bit with your exercise and diet. A change can often kick-start things a bit. Sorry I can't be a bit more specific!

i would change your rate of loss to 1lb per week, so you get more calories for half marathon training. you only have around 20lb to lose so you should be eating more than 1450 cals per day.

Hi, I agree with the above post, change your settings to lose just 1lb a week and take it a little slower. The closer you get to your goal the slower you need to lose it and the closer to your TDEE you need to eat.

How do you calculate your calorie burns too? I saw one day that said you earnt something like 3000 calories from exercise, wow!! If you really are burning that many calories then you need to eat way more to fuel your workouts or you are going to lose precious muscle. Everyone does to some extent when losing weight, but the bigger the calorie deficit, the more muscle you stand to lose.

But hey well done on your loss so far, that is a fabulous achievement! x

Many thanks for your words of advise guys.

I will start measuring my arms etc, I use a jawbone UP24 band to measure my calorie burn.... Very addictive

I will up my calorie intake now to counteract the amount of exercise I am doing.

Many thanks again for all your kind words

I believe the Up is an activity tracker, similar to the Fitbit? If so it gives you a full-day calorie burn, which includes BMR and regular daily activity. MFP already has your BMR & activity (based on the activity level you selected) accounted for. So be careful with double-dipping. Can the Up sync with MFP? If so that would be helpful so you're not counting things twice.

The up band syncs with MFP and it calculates and average taking the MFP predictions into account.

The final MFP reading is slightly less than
That of the UP app. But thanks for posting
