I cannot offer any advice regarding app restrictions and availability in India, but I'm from South Africa and we have no problems with using the FitBit device and the apps here.
Regarding the phone, yes, the 4S supports BLE so the FitBit will sync to the phone with no issues, but it must be the S.
You should be able to quickly check if the app is available by searching for it on your I
Tunes, the app and basic account are all free, but there is also a premium membership which allows a few added features and reports.
Did you get the little Bluetooth 4 dongle with the FitBit? This will also allow you to sync with a PC..0 -
I'm in Mumbai and bought a fitbit a couple of months ago in the UK, and it works perfectly. The only thing that is slightly annoying about it is that Mumbai roads are so terrible that my fitbit logs steps just from me riding in an autorickshaw or cab... though in fairness that's a problem with Mumbai more than with fitbit It is fairly easy to delete these steps, you just have to remember the exact times of all your road journeys so that you can go back and correct the steps at the end of the day.0

What model FitBit do you have? If you're using the One you can simply use the timer, and then change those activities to Driving, which will sort that out.0

Thank you Ryderod and tamaraphilip. :flowerforyou:
I am planning to buy a fitbit one before I leave on Saturday.0 -
Hi Ryderod, I had no idea I could use the timer like this, I will investigate. Thanks!0

Yes, it does make it a bit easier with managing bumpy roads, I usually get affected when using a motorcycle to commute with, as per the FitBit suggestion:
"Your fitbit should detect that you are driving and stop counting steps and floors but if the road is particularly bumpy it can get a bit confused.
There is currently no way to delete steps and floors outright, but you can negate them using the following steps:
Activate the timer while driving, remembering to stop it when finished.
Go to your Activity Log.
Select the activities that you'd like to clear data from.
In the activity menu, type in "Automobile or light truck (not a semi) driving" and enter the duration and start time.
Click Log Activity. You will see your steps, floors, and calories burned decrease for the time period specified."
What this specific driving activity does is designate the activity to a default 2x BMR, which is a norm for driving, and your stats will adjust accordingly. But you MUST remember to stop the timer once your finished driving, otherwise you will change more than you need to!0
