Almond Milk "7 Days After Opening"

Does anyone else disregard this label statement? Anybody had any adverse reactions? I'm almost completely certain I've been drinking almond milk outside the 7 days, but if it were that big of a deal, wouldn't they display that statement more prominently?

I tend to trust my senses more than what the label say. Does it smell, look and taste ok? Alright, I'll have it!
And yes, that means I constantly keep things longer than the label says.0 -
I drink soy milk outside of the 7 days quite often. One time it tasted funny though and when I poured it out in to the the sink there were strange lumps at the bottom. Kind of turned my stomach a little but I try not to think about it...
About storing milk, I think it's best to put it towards the centre or the back of the fridge. If you put it in or close to the fridge door, because the fridge door is always being opened and closed, it will go bad more quickly.0 -
I don't really pay attention to that, lots of almond milks don't even require refrigeration, so I figure if it takes me 10 days to get through a 1/2 gallon that's being kept in the fridge, it's no biggie.1

I buy Silk almond and it doesn't have any big warnings. Somewhere in small print it says it's fresh 7-10 days after opening, but I've used it long after that. I don't use milk much other than in smoothies and overnight oatmeal, so it takes me a while to use 2L. Haven't had any ill effects.0

I've used the same carton for up for a month after opening it. If the smell & texture is fine I have no problem using it.0

It usually takes me more like 2 weeks to get through a carton because I only use 1 cup a week for my oatmeal and maybe a total of 1/4 cup in my 2 cups of morning coffee. No adverse reactions.
I do the same with regular milk - if it's a few days after the expiration date but it still smells ok, no worries.1 -
Wow it's actually really weird that you posted this.
I got some chocolate almond milk likeee a month or so ago, and there's been like a 1/4 of it left for quite some time now. It doesn't expire until the 22nd but I was going to drink some yesterday and when I opened it, it smelled really spoiled!!
I thought it was my fridge just giving the carton that smell but after reading this forum post I'm going to have to throw it away and get a new carton haha0 -
I've honestly never even looked at that warning. I go through 1.5 cartons of Almond milk per week, so I've never had to concern myself with it.
...what does spoiled almond milk smell like? Regular spoiled milk?0 -
I use it well after that. Only a couple times has it seemed clumpy or smelled funky, and I just throw it away, but usually once I get to that point its only a bit in the bottom any way. I've never gotten sick or anything from it. It's too damn expensive to just throw away after 7 days. lol0

that to me is the bigger question!!!0 -
7 days? How does it last that long?0

To answer the OP, I've had cartons in the fridge 2+ weeks and never had problems.0 -
I've used the same almond milk for like a month and a half. Never tasted any different, no weird side effects. Just made sure to shake it up before I used it.1

Obviously, I’m very late to this conversation but I just wanted to say those clumps were likely calcium deposits. That’s all. Also I’m drinking a cartoon now that’s at least three weeks old. I’ve been nursing it for some time and no problems.

It takes me about a month to use a carton of almond milk at work. It’s fine.1

I agree it takes me about a month to use a 1/2 gallon and no problems. I use unsweetened almond.0
-
I say LOL and use it for 2-3 weeks2

I’ll use it for a couple weeks, and I’m pretty paranoid about a lot of other foods. I’ve never had an issue0
