I'm having sushi tonight with friends before seeing a play. Any ideas on the healthiest rolls?

What a coincidence, I just researched this since I'm also having sushi tonight.
My plan is California roll (one of the lowest cal) + hot and sour soup + edamame = around 450/500 cals.
Also, ask for brown rice instead of white.

First off I'd see if they'd susbstitute white rice for brown rice. Or if you like raw fish you could go for sashimi instead. Other than that here's some nutritional breakdowns for some of the more popular rolls. http://eatthis.menshealth.com/content/ultimate-sushi-roll-selector0

If you stay away from anything fried/tempura which includes even sweet potato rolls that don't necessarily look fried you'll be fine.
Avocado and cucumber are your best bets, California is 2x the cals as those but still an option. Luckily I'm a vegetarian sushi eater (just when it comes to sushi not life) but yes, do check out the website mentioned above and DRINK LOT OF WATER!!!! The sodium is high plus it will help plump up the rice in your tummy so you don’t have to eat 30+ rolls to be full.0 -

some sushi places are health conscious and if you ask for healthy options they can help you. However the best rule is stick with the raw fish cuts stay away from tempura, Cream cheese excessive sauces and spicy mayo. Definitely ask for brown rice and watch the soups are very high in sodium.

make sure you account for all of the ingredients, like the first link shows that the California roll is 250 cals or so but it doesn't include mayo on the ingredient list and a lot of sushi placed mix the imitation crab with mayo.0

I second the sashimi suggestion! Just plain fish, no rice. Maguro is pretty low-calorie and very very tasty. Looks like it's about 40 calories for an ounce. Think I'll have that for dinner myself!0

When I have to go to town I almost always eat sushi, because it is healthier. Of all the choices out there you have the best chance of one, having a great time and meal, and second, staying with in your calorie goal.0
