high cholesterol scare... Need advice...

I just need some advice... I went to the doctor several weeks ago because I wasn't feeling well and I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I was told that if I didn't start making changes regarding exercise and food I could die... I'm too young to die! They wanted to put me on a lovastatin and I read that "statins" can be very damaging to your liver... So I have decided to try and get my cholesterol down by myself... Both my LDL and triglycerides are very high, so I have cut most cholesterol, sat fat and sodium as much as I can... The problem with this is I'm having a hard time meeting my 1200 calorie intake a day because I'm eating so healthy. any suggestions on higher calorie foods that are still heart healthy so I can meet my daily goal?

I would approach this the other way:

Priority #1: stay within your calorie intake goal
    Priority #2: eating "heart healthy"

Meeting your calorie intake goal will help you lose weight. Losing weight will help you lower your blood pressure and cholesterol.

I was in the same position as you when I started my journey. I was on drugs for cholesterol, triglycerides, hypertension, and diabetes. My diet was (and is) high sodium and not particularly "heart healthy" (by any definition). I lost 10 lbs/month for a year and was no longer taking any of those drugs.

Unless you are under the SPECIFIC order of your doctor, do not prioritize anything higher than meeting your calorie goal.
