Hi guys, i'm having a difficult time understanding BMR,TDEE and RMR
Lots of sites seem to differ around 300 calories, but the two i have chosen are almost exactly the same
here are my thingies
TDEE: 2966 according to two of the sites (that use the same formula as MFP)
BMR: 2471
So heres what i know so far and of course i may be absolutely wrong.
TDEE is the calories you need to be exactly as you are, not putting any weight or losing any. Is that correct?
BMR is the bare minimal of what your body needs to survive. (Which will lower as you lose weight or something i'm not sure)
Apparently, taking 20% off your TDEE will be a healthily way to lose weight? Is that correct? If so MFP has been starving me.

I'll be honest, this part made me laugh. Not being mean, but the "MFP has been starving me." statement is kind of funny and sounds exactly like something I would say.
Anyway, MFP doesn't go by TDEE. MFP uses NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis). In other words:
TDEE = exercise + daily living + bmr
NEAT = daily living + bmr
With the MFP method, you are expected to log your exercise calories and eat them back. When you average out the week, you should end up with right around the same number of calories as the TDEE -%.
MFP = calories vary between exercise and rest days
TDEE = same number of calories everyday regardless of exercise0 -
So should i stick with MFP and trust it? It's saying my BMR is 2466 according to the BMR calculator (and very close to every other site i've used) but its saying to eat 1980 calories? But Dan also (and alot of other people) NOT to eat under your BMR since thats what you need to survive if you were to lay in bed all day, well i don't lay in bed. So shouldn't i be eating more?0
