Confused and frustrated

Hi,

My name is Anand, 28 years, male.

I used to be involved in sports a lot but i tore my knee ligaments 5-6 years back. I Used to weigh around 66-69 kgs(178 cms height)
After that i started gaining weight. Gained 3 kgs to 72 stayed there for a bit , then moved to 74-75 kgs region then 78 kgs and from last 6 months i now weigh 80 kgs.

I started going to gym some 8 months ago. Did 1200 calories diet for 1-2 months(with 1 day , 1 meal eat as much you like) - no results. Left the dieting part. Continued exercising .

From last 1 months i have become more serious in terms of my diet. I have made small changes likes no late dinner, after 8:00 pm, eating at least 4 meals + 1 snacks. I have bumped my calorie intake from 1200 to 1600-1800 ( which actually bumped my weight from 80.5 to 81.5)

I still do not see any result. I workout regularly for 40 mins for 5 days with another 2 sessions of 60 mins.

I do not know what is wrong from my part but to sum it up, i am frustrated. It feels like the weight is stuck with me and it ain't going any where :((

Any pointers what i am doing wrong.

Ok. I am struggling, but you need to go to message boards, getting started, and choose " your guide to sexy pants". There are 500 responses in this thread because the initial post tells you what to do.
Anywhere you go here will tell you essentially what is in this post.
    It has helped me.
Add me as a friend if you want to.

Also....some people will not accept friend requests unless your profile is complete. Just a suggestion.

    Things I would recommend:
    1) Invest in a food scale
    2) Drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water( sorry, too lazy for conversions!)
    3) Weigh all your food in grams - it is by far the most accurate.
    4) Correct food entries to match what you eat if needed

Measuring, counting, and reducing food intake is much more important than exercising (Sometimes described here as 80% food and 20% exercise).

Eating early or late -- does not matter to the body -- those are made up goofy rules.
That is the same about the small meals -- the body is o.k. with one or two meals a day. Eat how ever often works for you.
Definitely read the guide to sexy pants thread.

All of this is good advice.

If that fails to shift some pounds after a month or so, it might be time to see your doctor for a thyroid test.
