I'm going out to Texas Roadhouse for my moms birthday dinner tonight. I've done so good so far and I really want to keep the momentum going. I figure I can do little things like trading in the 8oz sirloin for a6 oz, and maybe only eating half of it, ordering my salad without the croutons and the cheese and dressing on the side, substituting my potato for streamed veggies, and ordering water to drink...but how can I figure out the nutritional info/calories? I don't want to turn into that annoying customer.

Lol

ETA I am on my phone and misspelled the title sorry.

  • Have you looked to see if the info is in the database here on MFP?

Since they don't have nutritional information available on their website, I just checked, then I would guess that you pick the closest substitution in the food database here and just log it that way.

The sirloin is but the salad depending on what's in it, (egg, cheese, etc.) And such will be a rough estimate.

Also, would you feel bad for turning down birthday cake?

Cake is cake. It doesn't matter if it's someone's birthday cake, you shouldn't feel bad at all for turning it down!

Lol, true! And im the one that bought it. Haha.

My mom is going to start dieting with me tomorrow so we will probably send the leftover cake home with someone else. Or just give it to the waiters..they always love that

I've worked in food service for years, believe me, the only way to be "that customer" is if your a witch with a capital B. Being concerned or even picky about what you eat, we're used to that, no biggie. Just be polite, tip well, and always follow the rule from Waiting- "Don't F* with the people who handle your food!"

Seriously, as long as your cool and relaxed about it, we're happy to do whatever.

My family loves Texas Roadhouse. When I know we are going I try to eat a 200-250 cal. breakfast, a 350 calorie lunch and workout sometime that day.

I normally order a 6 oz. filet, salad without cheese or croutons, and use the fork method for the dressing - dipping my fork into the dressing instead of pouring it on. I love buttermilk ranch and this way I get the taste without eating all of it.

My side is either a plain baked potato with the reserved dressing or the green beans.

NO ROLLS! They have over 200 cals. each! I learned that one the hard way.

    Have a good time!

omg lol I know, their rolls and cinna butter are the beeesssttt. But I'll refrain tonight.

I logged it in and still have my exercise calories left.. I've lost weight so far while eating most of my exercise calories back, so will probably be safe if I have a tbspn of ranch and a pinch of cheese with my salad.
