The smaller I get, the hungrier I get!

I'm not asking for help or anything, just wondering if other people can relate to this:

The less I weigh, the hungrier I feel, the more I eat and the slower I lose those last few pounds. I know it's ideal to increase calories, lose at a slower pace, and ease my way into maintenance; but I never expected my body to practically force me to do it. This is definitely a test of my self-control. I would like to lose between .25 and .5lbs per week, but every single food item I see looks irresistible. The past few weeks I've exceeded my goal frequently. I end up eating around maintenance on those days for the most part, but there are a few days where I've greatly exceeded my maintenance calories. It's almost like my body is panicked that I'll lose TOO much weight and it's trying to make me pack on a few more pounds. I've more-or-less maintained my current weight the past month or so. I'm wondering if it's normal, or if I'm just stressed (there's a lot of stuff going on in my life right now).

Has anybody else experienced this as they near their goal?

I still have about 30lbs until my goal weight, but I think I understand your situation. I have been significantly more hungry (and often going over my calories) the last couple of months than I have been the entire year that I have been losing weight.

For me, I think its a mental thing. I am trying to get it under control and practice more self restraint. But thats just me.

Definitely have this same issue. Looking back on over two decades of yo-yo dieting, some of my biggest pigouts were when I was thin.

I have to work hard to find foods that make me less hungry instead of more hungry after I eat them. Right now I'm making huge plates and bowls of veggies and beans and fruits. It's working so far.

I have had to slightly increase my intake of protein and healthy fats to tame the "hungries."

I'm right there with ya, sister! I was within 2.5 pounds of my goal, and I just can't seem to get there. I've been up & down the same few pounds for about 5 months.

I've been trying to lose the last few pounds but my hunger is only allowing me to maintain at the moment.
This has been the case all throughout my weightloss journey. I Iose 20 pounds then I go to maintenance for awhile because I become hungrier with each bunch of weight I lose.
The good part is, I'm at a point where I can maintain at around 2000 calories, which is very satisfying to me.
I know eventually, I'll be ready to lose those last few pounds to get to my final goal-120.

Once you have 20–25 lbs. left to lose, set your goal to .5 lb. per week. The closer you get to goal, the more slowly you lose. That's just the way the human body works.

The smaller deficit will also help you transition to maintenance.
