Unfortunately, the MFP calculator has a simplified view of sugars by lumping together added sugars in processed foods with the sugars occurring naturally in fruits, vegetables, some dairy products, etc. You might want to read http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/carbohydrates/added-sugar-in-the-diet/ for more about dietary sugar.
The sugars to worry about are from added and hidden sugars in processed foods or over-consumption of fruit and fruit juices. Those can easily result in your consumption of a great deal of sugar. In general, if you stick to vegetables and fruits and avoid filtered fruit juices and processed foods with added sugars, your sugar number in MFP can be pretty much ignored.
Of course, if you have some health issue that requires you to avoid dietary sugars that's a different story.0 -
Appreciate your response....that makes sense! I was concerned because I've been over every day - thanks for the explanation!0

Why are you concerned with keeping sugar intake down?0

Unless you have a medical reason to do so, there's no real need to avoid sugar.0

Always saw high levels of sugar as a negative for overall health.....anyone else have that impression?0
