First week no loss?

Hello!

I have been using myfitnesspal for the past few weeks though the actual dieting has been rather on/off. My goal is to lose 10 pounds in 6 weeks, this is now coming up to 5 weeks left.

Myfitnesspal set me to 1620 calories a day, to which I followed exactly this week, not eating processed foods either as I don't generally go down that path. However, after the first week I weighed myself and I have had no loss!? It seems odd to me as in the past where I have been having 1200 calories I lost 4 pounds in the first week.

It seems unlikely that my calories would be too high...I have a lot of lean muscle underneath my about 15-20 pounds of fat that can afford to be lost!

I am 5"8 and 154 pounds/70KG and 20 years old.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Patience also you are unlikely to lose that amount in such a short period of time as you have a small amount to lose. Just double check the accuracy of your logging and keep at it. this thread may help you

I agree with the above poster that does seem a bit much to lose in such a short time and for your body :) However, as far as not losing weight the first week , it happens all the time. It could be many things such as water retention, muscle soreness if you started a new workout program, or even your body just getting used to the adjustment. Give it another week :)

I would try to lower the calorie intake by 100 and try that for a week. Probably add some walking or exercise of your choice.

Took me about 2-3 weeks to see the flab start to move. It was probably down to me not logging as accurately as I do now and all the exercise I was doing altering my water weight

Don't expect miracles at the start and as a lot of people here will tel you...

lose little and often , don't block foods you enjoy and grab some will power and you will do fine

It's only been a week, you have to be patient. My first two weeks I actually gained two pounds. Also, like others have said, your expectations are too high for what you have to lose.
