    You just need a calorie deficit to lose fat... Some resistance/strength training will help you retain muscle so you look more 'toned'.

    Can't spot reduce. You need to reduce OVERALL body fat to eliminate the muffin top and slim the thighs. That is achieved with a deficit and some exercise.

    Squats will help, do daily build upto 100 over 30 or so days as well as calorie deficit
