Depressed and discouraged

Need help please. I'm so discouraged! I've been weighing and measuring every thing I eat for almost four months. I work out 5-6 times a week. My calories are sometimes a little under where they should be but other then that I'm almost always within my limits. I had knee surgery in December so have to be careful what I do for exercise, but I went from being able to run 1.5 miles on the treadmill to bring able to do 5-6 miles. I then do a half hour on different weight machines but nothing seems to help.
My clothes fit the same, my waist is the same number of inches and my weight bounces between the same five pounds. I feel so depressed, I don't know what to do :( when I was 14 I got sick and lost a ton of weight ( over 100 lbs) by not being able to eat for about six months. And I know it wasn't a healthy way to lose weight but I never gained it back until now (15 years later) and it was a combination of having a baby and surgery and like how my body stayed at the lower weight, my body won't move off the higher weight now even though I'm eating way better and exercising way more :(

Have you changed your eating habits? I know when I got older my metabolism changed. I work out all the time. Have been for years. Sometimes you just need to tweek your eating habits. Whether it be change your carb intake or something. Experiment with different diets (not like extreme dieting because I feel that is the worst way to lose weight). Like maybe try a low sodium intake diet. Or a low carb.
But don't feel discouraged or depressed because you are trying!!!

All this....go back to the basics, re evaluate your calories, what you are actually eating, eat at a deficit. These links are very important resources.
If you do this, it can really help.

I completely changed my eating habits. I am eating low carb, and low sodium. I completely cut out juice and pop, if I have tea I don't add any sugar. I started measuring all my foods to make sure I was within my portion sizes, I try to fill up my plate with mostly veggies and then have measured and weighed controlled portions of proteins.
I didn't actually realise my food diary wasn't open I'll try to open it for some more advice
    Thanks everyone

Have you had your thyroid checked recently?
  • Look at where the calories are coming from, not just how many. Refined sugars are the death of any diet and exercise routine. Lean protein, complex carbs and burn more than you eat! Oh yea...and drink a ton of water to crank up your metabolism. Also, remember that under eating IS just as bad as overeating. Your body will think it is never going to get calories again so it will store everything you put in. Timing is crucial too...make breakfast your biggest meal of the day, followed by lunch. Make dinner 500 calories or less at 6 pm at the latest! If this means you have to eat dinner before the rest of your family due to busy schedules than so be it! Eating 800 calories a couple hours before bed will make your journey very frustrating.

Don't give up! Look how far you've come on the treadmill! The pounds will start to fall off once you hone in on other parts of routine!

What is "eating right?" Define that for me, if you will.
I'll give you a hint...it's not what's in that post above.

    This is impressive.

it's every weight loss myth rolled into one, except the protein thing (far as I know)

    How does this work?

guess you are a believer in starvation mode....

lots of people lose weight not eating any breakfast or making dinner their biggest meal or eating late night snacks, meal timing is irrelevant
