My goal this year is to find a balance of cardio, strength training, flexibility, and overall mental serenity. I want to find several types of fitness such as yoga, step aerobics, and others and create a reasonable routine that I can consistently do every week. In my search for this routine I have become very curious about yoga, however, there isn't a lot of information about it. I have researched the different types of yoga, but all of the classes at my gym claim their yoga classes are a mixture of the 12 types. My classes seem very basic and I feel I will master the poses in a few months. I am already in the most challenging class and I am not that experienced in Yoga. When I tried to search independently a lot of the information looked as though yoga is a practice that is up to the person doing it and when independently done the person decides which moves to incorporate in a yoga their independent session. Is this the case you have found with yoga? There are so many intriguing poses that I would love to be able to accomplish one day, but I haven't found the right setting that will provided me with the building foundation steps need to get their. Any advice?

I've found fairly similar information but I'm still a rookie so hopefully someone else can provide more information.

Yoga is like, one of the most popular exercises that exist.

    Have you tried Google?

I'm sure there's millions and millions of pages full of info on it.

If you are taking a class then why not pic the instructors brain?

Try going to a yoga studio.

This is an old article, but it has good information on the different styles:

the gym probably doesn't offer a lot of variety when it comes to yoga. maybe you can find a local studio that offers different teachers and different styles, and you can try different classes to see which you prefer.
