Step trackers + running

I recently got a garmin vivofit to track my daily steps. It is hooked up to MFP and gives me extra calories if I get enough steps in. This usually happens if I go running. I also add into MFP my calories from running. Should I just continue doing what I am doing? The extra I get from my garmin has never been more than 50 cals anyway. A run is obviously much more. What do you guys do?

I use a GPS and sometimes will use my HR chest strap to monitor my run intensity.
I dont use it to see how many calories I burn or how many calories were burnt for the fact of eating some of them back.

I use it to track workout/run intensity and progress in my runs.

    Cal burns are a bonus.

I use a fitbit which syncs with MFP. The only time I add in exercise to MFP in addition to what my fitbit already gives me is when I do yoga and sometimes when I do the elliptical. I never add it separate when running because my fitbit is already counting in those steps and turning them into calories.
