That advice is deceptively simple, but it's right. Log every calorie you take in, it will REALLY wake you up to how much you are eating. Have a friend do it for you the first day so you can't see the results until later that day and it will shock you.
Stick around here for help and friends..a lot of fun to be had and some good cleavage being tossed around here for good luck...many of that from women.
Make friends with people..it truly helps!

Get on a basic barbell routine like starting strength and eat around maintenance, you should see good gains due to your previous weightlifting experience.

Been there my friend, I`m 6`3 and was a beast for many years on the football fields. And like you, I let it get out of control for a few years. Got fat, slow and weak (for me). Felt like crap all the time, both physically and mentally. I have came back hard, and doing great. You can as well. Being an athlete in the past helps a bunch.

I will send you a friends request. My best advise is, check out my diet and I post my workouts daily in the news feed.

Bad as we all hate to admit it, and I`m sure someone already said it. But you have to count calories, and weigh and measure everything that goes into your mouth.

    All the best.......

I am using a app to log my calorie intake. I was hoping for a good routine I could follow for awhile consisting of cardio and strength training. Thanks for all the response PS only cleavage I needs is my wife's ;)

hehehe...man cleavage...seriously though, some great advice on here...outstanding idea to have someone else log for you at first! simple is good...
get up and move...keep track...watch what you put in your mouth...the fewer ingredients, the better. if it doesn't go bad, it's BAD. be around people who eat like you do. don't keep crap in the house. don't beat yourself up if you slip, get back up and get at it again. good luck to you!!

Like everyone else said, weigh food, make sure you are counting every calories. I have decided to drink 3 litters of water everyday and that has been helping a lot. If I remember to buy them I enjoy almonds, walnuts, and other nuts for snacks. Start exercise slowly you do not want to injure yourself and then have to restart (I learned that lesson with my knees) Best of luck!
