Good Morning all,
I recently moved from Tennessee to Southern Florida and I'm struggling still with my weight. For some reason, I always think if I just do this... I can lose weight. Moving to South Florida was one of those strange things I thought would just be it. I want to change, I want to be healthy and take care of my body. But, it's so dang hard. I grew up in a low income family ... and we ate lots of junk food all the time. Then I got married to my husband 5 years ago and put on literally 60 pounds since then and now I've gained 10 pounds since moving 2 months ago. I've paid lots of money for gym memberships. personal training and boot camps and ultimately stopped going for one reason or another. It's incredibly difficult that I feel like I've failed so much. Please give me some tips for what helped you on your journey. Thanks!

Hi,
contrary to popular belief, physical activity is not necessary for weight loss, especially if you don't really, really, really enjoy doing it.
Forcing yourself to do something you don't enjoy causes a lot of psychological stress which makes you eat even more, so save your money. What really matters is food and food alone. As weight loss is concerned it doesn't matter if it's junk food or super-healthy food. You have to eat less, much less, that's all. Sure, if you could walk at least an hour a day at a brisk pace it would help but first and foremost you must reduce food. Can you do it? Do you have the willpower to significantly reduce the quantity of the food you usually eat?0 -
Hi Jennifer!
My path to salvation (err, weight loss!) has been to move more and monitor what I eat. I'm lazy by nature. And it seems admitting it has been a huge stepping stone for me. So I wear an activity tracker and I set goals - and make sure I hit them. I weigh all my food, eat in the 1400-1600 range. Having friends to talk to about the journey is also very helpful. But to a certain extent, I've become a bit obsessive about it. Running in place at night if I need to get more steps in. Weighing everything I eat. Choosing to not eat foods that won't fit in my calorie goals for the day. While I don't outlaw any particular food, I certainly eat very little that is fried these days.0
