Which "calories burned" is more accurate?

Hello everyone,

I've been using myfitnesspal for about a month now, and when I enter my cardio workouts for the day I notice the calories burned is different than what the machine says. Which is more accurate? On days I don't see my personal trainer, I use the elliptical for 30 mins. The machine says I've burned around 580 calories while myfitnesspal says I've burned only 280. Which is more correct?

both are estimates and both are known for being over estimates...

but in 30 mins on eliptical for you most definately does not burn over 500 calories...

    This.

If you really want closer accuracy, invest in a Heart Rate Monitor (with a chest strap). I love my Polar FT7!
  • Ok thanks. That's what the machine says! I didn't think I actually burned that much (sounded a bit ridiculous).
