Figuring out my activity level.

I'm trying to figure out if my activity level is accurate. I set if for Light activity. I work 12 hour days 14 days a month. Most of my work day is behind a computer, but for a few hours out of that 12 I work on the floor. I work with molten metal, my protective gear weighs about 20lbs. I do anything from burning, which requires protective gear, to hammering, with a 15lb hammer, picking up chunks of copper, anywhere from 10 to 100 lbs. I wore a pedometer to work one day and logged over 12000 steps working. That was a busy day though, on average I probably do about 5 to 10 thousand steps. I get hungry while at work, and am wondering if I should set my activity level higher, or count a bad day as exercise. Any suggestions?

Hi,
I think there are two ways to look at this - firstly you could leave it at the level you are on - and add in the extra as adhoc exercise and earn calories to eat. Or you could up the activity level and see what that suggests you do.
What do you do on your 14 days off - busy or sedentary ? If you dont match the busy periods you do at work with you days off then set it to low and add in the extra
Hope that makes sense,

That's always tough to figure out. I'd say you're probaly doing more than light, but you're also not working everyday. On your off days are you as active? Do you add excercise to your daily routine?0

Besides Gym activity, which I can log, My days off are usually sedentary. I like to catch up on missed sleep, prepare meals for the week, laundry, and shopping for food. My kids come over once a week so that's the only day I usually have to do any cleaning.0
