Does anyone else count calories from supplements?

I'd assume so since everything I take was already listed in the database when I searched for it, but I'm wondering how extreme that really is. Its a grand total of ~35 calories a day and I don't really think of fish oil and cinnamon as 'food'. Friggen things put me over my calories today and I'm annoyed to see the dumb red numbers because of some pills haha.. I'm not overly worried about it by any stretch but just curious. Logging it is more of a way to make sure I remember to take them every day than to count the omgcalories in 2 cinnamon capsules.
Thoughts?

I count everything I ingest, because my body does, too.....0

i wouldn't count them, but then again, i dont count diet soda with no calories. i agree its weird since its not even food.0

Hmmm, my supplements come up as 0 calories, so I put them in. Personally I think I'd skip it if I were you though.0

I would count everything, from pills to diet soda. While they may not hold a lot of calories, they have something else that can hinder or help your body.0

should still log diet soda because it has sodium in it unless your not too worried about that0 -
I think a tsp of oil is a tsp of oil whether it comes from a fish oil pill or from a bottle of olive oil.0

i would log it but maybe you did some housework or something you havent logged today as exercise so you can see all your numbers as green??0 -
I'd say counting 35 calories from supps might not be that essential seeing as how the body may require 40 calories to process the supp anyway ) in short, don't sweat the small stuff.0

I use to, but it's not that big of a deal to me anymore.0

I make a note that I've taken my vitamins, but i don't actually list them in my food intake... Anyway, those 35 calories are all from supplements i'm assuming are super beneficial to your heath, don't worry about them! I personally wouldn't consider the calories from vitamins at all. good luck0

Glad to see the same answers I give when I'm arguing with myself haha.. I do think the oil is more significant because of the omega 3's but the cinnamon is basically null.
Interesting feedback, thanks guys
Edit - I literally went over my calorie goal by 12 calories if I take the supplements out for the day. Not worried at ALL, just also not interested in measuring .3875 cup of beans. I'd rather just eat the damn half cup and be done with it . My diary is open for viewing if anyone's curious!0 -
I'm not counting cals from supplements but I can see the value of posting them on your food diary as a record of taking them every day.
For those trying to cut consumption of diet drinks (and increase water instead), I think posting diet soda would help too. Once you write down everything, you can really get a sense of how much you put into your body. So, while diet drinks are zero calories - they aren't very good for you. Maybe having a visual record could motivate someone to switch to a better option. My 2 cents.0 -
A lot of people get confused on this particular topic, but the answer is quite simple. Yes, you need to add the calories from your supplements. A calorie is essentially the energy needed to increase 1g of H2O by 1°C. The 35 calories you took in through your supplements is enough energy to bring 1g of H20 from 0°C (Freezing) to 35°C (A very hot summer day). This is very important in your body, and should be counted.
I hope this helps you. Have a great day.0 -
I count my multi vitamin gummies, they have cals and sugar so its a must, but i wouldnt worry if they put me over because is more healthy than bad0

I count mine as well. I take 4 different vitamin supplements and put them together as one of "my meals." Then I just enter them in first thing in the morning even though I split some up throughout the day. The Omega 3 Fish Oil counts 45 total calories for me (3 capsules @15 cal ea.), the other 3 are zero. If nothing else, it's helping me remember to take them. I personally want to know exactly what I'm putting into my body.0

i count my calcium supplement (20 calories) when i take it.
if you are worried about the green number, go do 3 minutes of jumping jacks and count it as cardio.0 -
my linol acid 4 capsule is 40 kcal, duno about hoodia, acai, vitamin, and calciumpyruvate-citrin supplement. On 3 days lost on average 0,8 pounds on them PER DAY0

I could mine because they are the gummy kind. I cannot take pill vitamins because they make me throw up. I figure if I am chewing them I got to count them.0
