How do you avoid the tempatation of junk food

I try not to buy junk food in my house since most of it its calorie dense, I still treat myself on occasion but I try not eat too much of it. However, today, after at work there was a cake and vanilla ice cream but I coudnt resist .Its not a big idea if I can fit it onto calorie goal but I didn't have much calories left for the day but that didn't stop me from going for it .I would have to skip dinner to stay in my calorie goal but I decided to have a small potion of low calorie food like cucumber and steak.so how do you avoid the temptation when you go to work and there is junk food around you? Especially at work ,sometimes they offer us free food and the problem is I don't know what`s in it and I cant really track it

I carry a protein bar with me and eat it any time I get cravings. I normally don't eat much because it tastes like crap. If I don't want to eat the protein bar it tells me that I am not really hungry and thus do not need to eat. I think about what my future body will look like if I continue to make healthy choices and only eat when I am hungry, and then when I look at fattening food I think of what I looked like 60 lb's ago. After that it's an easy decision to make.0

We don't have much free food any more (we used to) so once in a while free treat doesn't worry me...
I dont know if theres any better way to handle this beside practicing self control...0 -

right on :laugh:0 -
I don't avoid junk food because I don't consider any food junk. I work any food I want to eat into my calories for the day or week. If I go over one day, I eat less on another day. I don't eat free food at the office unless it is ordered from a restaurant that provide nutritional information.0

that's a good idea.I am going to quit eating free food at my work as well:smokin:0 -
I don't. I just use portion control and exercise if it makes me go over my calorie budget.0

I never, ever waste my calories on food that doesn't make me happy. A lot if the stuff at work is meh, so I just say no.
Eat "good" (whatever that means to you) 80% of the time. Fit yummy, portion-controlled treats into your calorie goal. Deprivation can lead to bingeing.
Look at your nutrition for the past 7 days—not just today. (It's easier in the app.) I bet there's room for more than just steak & cucumbers. And log that cake & ice cream accurately & honestly. Logging works!0 -
I was never a junk food eater to begin with. My guy keeps all kinds of cookies and candy and chips and honey buns in the office and I could just walk in there and get some but I don't. It's always in the house but I just don't have a desire to eat it. I also ask him if I can have a couple small pieces of chocolate if I really have a craving for it but I don't usually do that. I just made him some homemade choclate white chocolate chip cookies and I didn't touch one. I licked the beater though lol. I don't drink soda. I don't eat chips except maybe pork rinds now and then. Give me some honeydew or cantelope or strawberries and good luck keeping them in the house.0

I had the WORST craving for Reese's Peanut Butter cups the other night. I had room in my calorie budget AFTER I factored in a 60 minute walk. 10 minutes in to the walk (and after drinking a lot of water) I wasn't craving it anymore. Every now and then the craving comes back (like right now) but I just go for a walk or eat something else. My family has a Christmas in July celebration coming up and there's going to be TONS of food, so I'm just trying to eat well, in smaller quantities, so that I can go hard at Christmas. :P0

My husband has a serious sweet tooth, so there are always treats for him in the house. Lucky for him, he doesn't gain weight. I really don't have a problem staying away from something if I have a goal in mind. One thing I found though, is that if I don't treat myself to a small portion of something once a week, then I just might go a little crazy. Look at it as a reward for a week well done. If you go over your goal, take a walk, go for a swim, or do some activity you enjoy to burn off a few of those calories.0

Absolutely this. I just don't eat anything offered at the office, since it's always disappointing. My calories are precious bundles of fuel and nutrients to me, so I don't waste them on food I don't enjoy or won't do anything positive for my body.
I eat what I want, not what's just laying around, regardless of the looks I might get for turning the freebies down.0 -
I hate synthetic flavors n colors n msg makes me sick so anything not natural or made from scratch isnt worth my time. Natural flavors dont count its too vague to be in my food. So just set higher standards for your food. Free is good but natural is better. When im craving something I make a protein shake. I like vanilla with honey n cinnamon . Or green tea n honey. Jasmine tea is good too.0

Nothing says natural like protein powder.0
