Define cardio.
20 mins on the treadmill is no biggy, but every calorie you burn, you're gonna have to make back up in food if you want to build any muscle.
My advice is eat at a small surplus, lift on a structured programme and keep cardio to a minimum.0 -

You'll have to go through a couple of bulk/ cut cycles, which may involve some CV work in the cut portions. Needn't if you're not up to it.like using the treadmill and stuff?
I'd rather tear my eyes out with a spoon tbh.0 -

Not if he doesn't want to
He has to eat at surplus too, not just lift the weights.0
