New here, 37yrs...Giving this diet my all this time

Options
Hi, my name is Cynthia...
I have tried diets off and on since I was around 21. I was diagnosed with degenerative disk disease, 4 bulging disks, severe osteoarthritis, stenosis, bone spurs, fibromyalgia and God knows if this anything else. It really hit me hard when I turned 30 and was put on strong narcotics, come 32 I had a neurostimulator implant and sadly it only took the edge off and only for about a year. I was put on medical resignation from my job and it turned out that I had to file for disability (which I did get).
Sitting all day everyday and eating but unable to exercise I quickly put on a lot of weight. It's a viscous circle as my doctor says...I have to eat but can't burn off the calories. I rarely ate 3 meals a day so I thought I was doing good where that was concerned...until my doctor sent me to a Weight Loss Therapist and she went over my usual eating habits showing me that although I don't eat alot or snack often I was eating a lot of carbs which were mainly sugar carbs.
I am very angry with myself for allowing me to gain so much weight. Off and on throughout life I dieted but never stuck to it. I love food, plain and simple! I figured I would just try to accept myself the way I am but all the weight is causing my pain to increase very much. I was referred to my local hospital for bariatric surgery by my pain specialists but my family Dr disagreed. He wants me to stay on a 1200 calorie diet, with no more than a 30% fat intake. About 3 weeks ago I started just eating healthier watching my carbs and sugar and by the time I saw my doctor yesterday I had lost 4lbs. I felt very surprised but also thrilled. If I stay on this 1200 calorie diet I should lose 2lbs a week so for the first time I am putting my all into it. I am motivated but would love to meet someone to chat with along this journey, someone who understands what I am feeling. So hopefully I will meet someone here who relates to me!:flowerforyou:
