Hi everyone, after suffering some severe emotional changes my health began to go down hill and the weight pilled on. I went from 120lbs to 180lbs and i feel horrible. I look in the mirror and i don't recognize myself anymore and it saddens me that i've lost so much control over my life.I'm 34 and have hypertension,i just can't believe i let this happen. But this time i'm hoping, hoping to get my weight under control. I'm glad to have found this community.

Welcome. Starting is the hardest part. No need to feel overwhelmed. When I hit 200 lbs. in my late 30s, I knew I had to start a serious diet. And I have never weighed anywhere near that much since. The pounds come off very fast at a high weight. You are young and now is the time, so you won't have loose skin from weight loss. In a matter of months, you can be down to 120 and never look back.0

I definitely agree with the "here we go again." I have lost and gained the same wt 15-20 lbs about 3 times, but I really have 60 lbs to lose. As soon as I lose 5-10-15, something in my brain or myself, says, "now you can indulge yourself" and then this happens repeatedly, and I am back to the same old, excessive amounts of calories each day. I am so sick and tired of this, and I am really concerned about developing health problems due to the obesity.
I have not been successful on weight watchers, some program from Yale U, CBT books on wt loss, WW again, you name it. I do like to exercise, so that is a big plus. But then I use the exercise I have done as "permission" to eat more. I am also addicted to sweets. I wish I had never had any contact with sweets, it is such an albatross. My home is full of candy and ice cream as my husband is also addicted to ice cream, but he is a normal wt.
Despite this, I try to eat veggies, fruits and healthy foods, just too much carbs, butter, peanut butter, nuts. Ugh.0 -
Don't beat yourself up....life is a series of starts and stops. The important thing is that you have recognized what needs to change and now you're taking the necessary steps!
I am getting back into the gym also, after having a very lazy first 7 months of 2014 lol My biggest issue is that I have always loved to eat but I have always been thin w/no weight gain issues....until now. I am 27, 6ft tall and am heavier than I have ever been at 180. Yes, I know I'm tall so technically it isn't as bad but I have a small frame so the weight doesn't do me as much justice as others claim.
I know I'll never be as small as I used to be (I honestly don't EVER wanna be that small again! lol) but I want to FEEL healthy again, you know? Oh and get rid of my love handles lol Being a part of this community helps us to be held accountable; welcome and I look forward to taking this journey with you! Feel free to add me :-)0
