Holiday Jitters

I'm currently on holiday in Spain, and I really wanna go in the pool but I just feel so self conscious about my weight and my body, it's preventing me from going in. Just wondering if anybody has any tips/been able to overcome this?

  • I think about who's going to see me...
Strangers? Well I won't see them ever again so who cares what they think.
Family? Well they've probably seen me looking far worse (ie drunk and throwing up or I'll with snot all over my face.)
Friends? If they are true friends they'll be supportive, if they are judgemental they aren't friends.
    That usually helps.

You're on holiday... You've probably worked damn hard to afford it. Don't let this hold you back from making the most of it!! :)

usually the thought of sitting around thinking of the things I'd rather be doing is so lame- I just go do the things I want to do. it can't possibly be worse than sitting around doing nothing and or sitting around feeling sorry for myself.

So then I just go do them- and I'm proud of myself for doing the thing- and I have fun stories to tell.

    Win win everywhere.

According to your profile, you're an aspiring actor. So you really need to work on developing self-confidence.

Also, vacations (holidays) are a great time to be more active than you are back home. Swim, walk, move!

Yeah I know, I have no confidence at all, I think I'm just gonna force myself to go in, plus once I'm in the pool, nobody can see my body anyway!

i was just in spain. the new trend there is short swim suits, and they range from short running short style, to full on speedos. i saw men and boys of all shapes and sizes wearing them.

like others said, you're on vacation. don't sweat it. if you wait until you're the fittest person ever, yo'll be waiting a really long time.

Hey there, another take on the "aspiring actor" - time to "act as if" you have the confidence, as if you don't care what others think. The best part? It will become real with practice!
